BURIAL COSTUMES

INTRODUCTION• There are so many types of burials in the world. There is a single plot

burial, cremation burial, companion plot burial, public Mausoleum burial, private Mausoleum burial, and a lawn Crypt burial. Different ethic groups have different burials. Some may bury you in the ground, and no stone to give recognition of who you are, some may ship you off in water, others may just put all the bodies in one place and leave them there forever. There are different burials processes all around the world.

• The two that I found very interesting is the Pit Burial and the Sprit Offerings. You don’t see these in North Carolina.

PIT BURIAL• A burial pit is a open area, and is located behind the village. This is where

they throw dead bodies.• Now if you are a Chef, Shaman which is a person who practices in

healing, synonym to that is a medicine man, or a Warrior things are a little different. You are to be crushed with clubs until you fit into a small wooden box. Then they will fit it on top of a totern pole in front of a long house of the mans tribe where the various icons of the totem acted as guardians for the spirits journey to the next world.
