The Florida Traffic Crash Records Database is a relational database consisting of ten tables. Each table contains data relevant to a certain facet of a traffic crash. Files may be joined asneeded to extract information.

File Name Description

Events Contains information about the crash event (i.e. date, time, harmful events, etc.). This is the "parent file" of the database.

Drivers Contains information about each driver involved in the crash demographic and causal).

Passengers Contains information about each passenger involved in the crash (demographic and causal).

Non-Motorist Contains information about each non-motorist involved in the crash (demographic and causal).

Property Contains information about property (other than vehicles) damaged in the crash

Vehicles Contains information about each vehicle involved in the crash.

Violations Contains information about citations issued to drivers or non-motorists involved in crashes (limited to the first eight citations issues per party).

Motor Carrier Contains information about commercial vehicles and carriers involved in crashes.

Witness Contains information about those who witnessed the crash

Trailer

This codebook has been constructed with the intention of providing a "users manual for personsusing or requesting crash data from the Bureau of Records (BOR). The BOR maintains the FloridaTraffic Crash Records data and is available from 1986 forward. There are three earlier database layouts(1986-1992, 1993-2001, and 2002-2010). The codebook describes the layout of data from 2011 forward (using HSMV crash form 90010S) and contains an array of data not previously available for analysis.

The data elements highlighted in yellow will not be present in the redacted version of the raw data.
