GENERAL PATTERN INFORMATION

SKILL LEVEL

FINISHED SIZE AND GAUGE

Bunny finger puppet is approximately 3-1/2 inches (8.9 cm) in height, from top of ears to bottom of body.

Bunny hand puppet is approximately 10 inches (25.4 cm) in height, from top of ears to bottom of body.

Exact gauge is not essential for this project.

PATTERN NOTES

Do not join or turn unless otherwise instructed. Use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of theround, and move the marker up each time a new round is started.

Finger puppet is worked with a 3.5 mm (US E-4) hook, and hand puppet is worked with a 5.5 mm (USI-9) hook.

When assembling the puppets, use the photos as an approximate guide for placement.

CROCHET INSTRUCTIONS

FINGER PUPPET

BODY AND HEAD

Beginning at top of Head with yarn MC and 3.5 mm (US E-4) hook, ch 2. Rnd 1: 6 sc in second ch from hook. (6 sts) Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around. (12 sts) Rnd 3: (2 sc in next st, sc in next st) around. (18 sts) Rnds 4-7: Sc in each st around. Rnd 8: (Sc2tog, sc in next st) around. (12 sts) Rnd 9: Repeat Rnd 8. (8 sts) Rnd 10: (2 sc in next st, sc in next st) around. (12 sts) Rnd 11: Repeat Rnd 10. (18 sts) Rnds 12-13: Sc in each st around. Rnd 14: Sc in each st around. Sl st to join. Fasten off. Weave in all yarn ends. With an embroidery needle and 3 strands black embroidery floss, satin stitch eyes at Rnds 3 to 4, spaced approximately 4 sts apart. Straight stitch a Y-shaped nose below the eyes.

EARS (Make 2)

With yarn MC, ch 2. Rnd 1: 6 sc in second ch from hook. (6 sts) Rnds 2-5: Sc in each st around. Rnd 6: Sc in each st around. Sl st to join. Fasten off, leaving a long yarn end for sewing. Flatten and do not stuff. Repeat for second Ear. With a yarn needle, sew Ears to top of Head.

TAIL

With yarn MC, ch 2. Rnd 1: 6 sc in second ch from hook. (6 sts) Rnd 2: Sc in each st around. Rnd 3: (Sc2tog) 3 times. Sl st to join. (3 sts) Fasten off, leaving a long yarn end for sewing. Do not stuff. With a yarn needle, sew Tail to back of Body.

HAND PUPPET

BODY AND HEAD

Beginning at bottom of Body with yarn MC and 5.5 mm (US I-9) hook, ch 28. Join with sl st to form a ring. Rnds 1-5: Sc in same st as joining and in each st around. (28 sts) Rnd 6: 2 sc in first st, sc in next 12 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in last 14 sts. (30 sts) Rnd 7: 2 sc in first st, sc in next 13 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in last 15 sts. (32 sts) Rnd 8: 2 sc in first st, sc in next 14 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in last 16 sts. (34 sts) Rnd 9: 2 sc in first st, sc in next 15 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in last 17 sts. (36 sts) Rnds 10-17: Sc in each st around. Rnd 18: Sc in first 12 sts, ch 6, sk next 6 sts, sc in next 12 sts, ch 6, sk last 6 sts, sl st in first sc to join. Rnd 19: Sc in same st as joining and in each st around, including each ch of ch 6 from previous round. (36 sc) Rnds 20-29: Sc in each st around. Rnd 30: (Sc2tog, sc in next 4 sts) around. (30 sts) Rnd 31: (Sc2tog, sc in next 3 sts) around. (24 sts) Rnd 32: (Sc2tog, sc in next 2 sts) around. (18 sts) Rnd 33: (Sc2tog, sc in next st) around. (12 sts) Rnd 34: (Sc2tog) around. (6 sts) Fasten off, leaving a long yarn end for sewing. Weave yarn through remaining sts, pull tight, secure. Weave in all yarn ends.

Bunny Arms: Join yarn MC with a sl st in first skipped st of opening on Rnd 18 of Body. Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in same st as sl st and in each st around opening. (12 sc) Rnds 2-8: Sc in each st around. Rnd 9: (Sc2tog) around. (6 sts) Fasten off, leaving a long yarn end for sewing. Weave yarn through remaining sts, pull tight, secure. Weave in all yarn ends. Repeat to make second arm on other side of Body.

With three strands black embroidery floss, satin stitch eyes at Rnds 28 to 29, spaced approximately 4 sts apart. Straight stitch a Y-shaped nose below the eyes.

(9 sts) Fasten off, leaving a long yarn end for sewing. Flatten Ear and do not stuff. Repeat for second Ear. With a yarn needle, sew Ears to top of Head.

TAIL

With yarn MC, ch 2. Rnds 1-3: Work Rnds 1 to 3 of Ears. (18 sts) Rnd 4: (2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts) around. (24 sts) Rnds 5-6: Sc in each st around. Rnd 7: (Sc2tog, sc in next 2 sts) around. (18 sts) Rnd 8: Sc in each st around. Rnd 9: (Sc2tog, sc in next st) around. Sl st to join. (12 sts) Fasten off, leaving a long yarn end for sewing. Stuff Tail firmly with polyester fibrefill. With a yarn needle, sew Tail to back of Body.
