LOST PROPERTY

There are many items in the lost property box.

If you think your child is missing some clothing, please check the lost property box outside K/6O.

Most of the items do not have names on them.

To ensure that lost property is returned to your child, please write their name on the tag.

Any items left in lost property at the end to the term will be donated to charity.

DEFENCE NEWS

Hope all our Fathers Day stress balls are getting a work out— but not too much!!

Just a reminder to our defence club children if they are interested, we will be working on our gnomes for

Floriade this week and next week on both the Wednesday and Thursday at

lunchtime in the music room (multipurpose

room).

The gnomes will be taken to Floriade on the

weekend of the 16-17th September where

they will be displayed along with all the other

gnomes in Gnome Knoll.

PREMIERS SPELLING BEE

Bungendore Public School student Kaeli

Russell made it to the top 4 in the Junior

division of the Premier’s Spelling Bee

regional finals this week, successfully

spelling her way to the second last round

before falling on the word ‘centurion’.

Her classmate Chelsea Clugston also put up a food fight correctly spelling her way through

to the fourth round where ‘debtor’ proved too tricky. The winning word was ‘alkaline’

which gave Maxwell from Captains Flat Public School a ticket to the State finals. Mean-

while, the spelling of ‘pinafore’ and ‘enigma’ bought our two Senior Premier’s Spelling Bee

representatives undone at Nowra on Monday. Andrew Goslett made it through to the final

10 while Isobel Campbell was one of 14 who bowed out during the second round. A

student from Jerrabomberra spelt ‘notoriety’ correctly to win her way to the State finals,

which will be held in Sydney later in the year. A mighty effort and every school would be

and should be very proud of each Spelling Bee contestant. Both Junior contestants and

Senior contestants were given a practice round before starting the competition, where the

first five students were given a word from the Spelling Bee wordlists to demonstrate the

rules of the competition. This was in line with how the school’s Great Spelling Bee was

conducted earlier this term

Premier’s Debating Challenge for Years 5 & 6 Regional Team Trials

Bungendore Year 6s Tom Rudd and Tom Osborne will travel to Jamberoo Public School to try out

for the Illawarra South East Regional Debating Team tomorrow. If successful, one of the boys

will compete with the squad at the State Debating Camp in November. The rule is that not more

than one squad member can come from the same school. It was very pleasing that the school’s

nominations were accepted and we wish both boys the best of luck for the try outs.

Support buying Maths resources for our school.

The challenge has been set with Matific’s Maths Competition!

Matific, an online primary maths resource is running a maths competition and we are excited to be taking part!

The Matific Games, which concludes on September 13, 2017, awards students as they progress through the educational activities with stars. The more our students play, the more stars are collected and the

higher the chance of winning the major prize of $20,000 cash!

The best part about this great competition is that screen time, really is learning time with Matific -- a recent academic study showed that Matific helped improve students maths test results by 34%

So let's all get into the competitive spirit and show other schools in our area what we are made of.
