Attendance  before  make  up:    20%      Present  at  today’s  meeting  at  The  Ramada  Plaza  Melaka  were  PP  Datuk  Ang  Kim  Hai,  President  A.  kalimuthu,  PP  Ron  Png,  PP  A  C  Vohrah,  PP  Charles  Chiam,  PP  Seppo  Kangassalo,  PP  Murphy  Chan,  PP  Jaya  Kumar  and  Rtn  Dr.  Duraisingam.      • Inter  City  Meeting  –  The  Rotary  Club  of  Singapore  shall  be  organizing  an  Inter  

City  Meeting  for  Rotarians  in  D  3310  on  Saturday,  21  May  2016,  at  5  pm  at  the  Island  Ballroom,  Shangri-­‐La  Hotel,  22  Orange  Grove  Road.  Cost  for  the  dinner  is  S$105  Nett.  The  Guest  of  Honour  is  Rotary  International  President  RAVI  RAVINDRAN.  Those  Rotarians  who  contribute  to  Rotary  Foundation  shall  receive  a  Certificate  from  Ravi  Ravindran.  Rotarians  who  contribute  to  Paul  Harris  Society  will  also  get  a  Certificate  from  Ravi  Ravindran.  

 • The  Cycle  for  End  Polio  2016  has  ended  in  East  Malaysia,  Singapore  and  in  

Johor  Bahru.  Photos  will  be  uploaded  in  the  next  bulletin.    

• Global  Grant  –  At  the  District  Assembly  2016,  Rtn  Dr.  Sahul  Hamid  talked  on  Global  Grant.  A  sum  of  USD700m  can  be  tapped  on.  PP  Charles  Chiam  will  get  more  information  on  Global  Grant  and  email  to  all  members  of  R  C  Malacca.  PP  Edmund  Chew  is  also  keen  to  work  with  us  on  providing  school  uniforms  to  poor  needy  students  in  Cambodia.  PP  Charles  Chiam  will  follow  up  with  Edmund  Chew.  Before  applying  for  Global  Grant  (formerly  known  as  Matching  Grant)  R  C  Malacca  need  to  sign  a  MOU.  President  and  President  Nominee  need  to  sign  the  MOU.    

• R  C  Malacca  is  keen  to  do  a  joint  project  with  R  C  Kota  Famosa  and  R  C  Kota  Melaka.    

• PP  Murphy  Chan  briefed  on  the  possibility  of  setting  up  an  EYE  CENTRE  in  Melaka.  Primary  objectives  are  to  reach  out  to  children  in  rural  schools,  and  senior  citizens.  To  recruit  young  volunteers  like  Interactors  to  assist  in  registration  and  vision  screening.  Brand  name  to  be  THE  ROTARY  CLUB  OF  MALACCA.  Each  pair  of  lens  cost  RM120/=    

• Donation  of  School  uniforms  will  be  targeted  in  urban  schools  in  Melaka  for  2016  -­‐17.  

• R  C  Malacca  Installation  Dinner  is  scheduled  for  SATURDAY,  11  JUNE  2016  at  Ramada  Plaza  Melaka.  

 • A  minute  silence  was  observed  at  the  previous  meeting  at  The  Malacca  Club  

on  Wednesday,  16  March  2016  on  the  passing  of  Rotarian  Walter  Indergand.      • Melaka  Cancer  Society  shall  be  organizing  a  Charity  Dinner  at  the  Baba  Nyonya  

Art  &  Culture  Group,  178  Jalan  Parameswara,  75000  Melaka  (next  to  Hallmark  Hotel),  on  Thursday,  14  April  at  6.00  pm  followed  by  Magic  Show.    R  C  Malacca  is  taking  a  table  of  10  pax.  So  far  confirmed  are  Kalimuthu,  Charles  Chiam,  Yeo  Weng  Keong,  Gan  Kim  Wong,  Ron  and  Mary  Png,  Ir  Kumar  Shanmugam  &  spouse  Christine,  former  Rotarian  Lim  Jit  Kim  and  spouse  Ann.    Cost  per  pax  is  RM80/-­‐.

• Rtn.  Yeo  reported  that  he  had  made  contact  with  the  Interactors’  Teacher  Advisors  from  the  various  schools:  -­‐ MGSS  –  Mdm.  Koh  said  the  meetings  are  between  2.30  pm  to  4.00  pm  on  

Wednesdays.  -­‐ St  David’s  –  Puan  Nurul  was  not  available.  Received  a  sms  from  Ms  

Diyana.  During  the  May  school  holidays,  the  Interactors  will  be  setting  up  an  Interact  Camp  and  they  need  Rotarians  from  R  C  Malacca  to  join  in  with  2  slots  on  speeches.  

-­‐ Yoke  Bin  –  The  teacher  advisor  is  in  Sarawak  and  will  contact  her  after  CNY  

-­‐ KYS  –  Karen  Lai  explained  that  they  had  70  members  of  whom  50  are  active,  meetings  are  held  on  Saturdays.    PP  Charles  Chiam  has  communicated  with  PP  Chew  Kian  Wee  on  Youth  Exchange.  Will  have  to  wait  for  next  year.  

-­‐ We  need  to  confirm  attending  the  above  Interact  Meetings.            Meeting  Closed.
