Langley Events Centre receives the top U23 teams of the Americas

The Langley Events Centre held for the first time ever an international volleyball

tournament with the Men’s U23 Pan American Volleyball Cup. The Official opening

ceremony took place after the first match between Argentina and Dominican Republic

with a five team parade and the performance of the National Athem of Canada as well

as a presentation of the tournament and the members of the organising and control

committees.

Match One: Argentina 3, Dominican Republic 1

Argentina opened the Men’s U23 Pan American Cup with a victory over Dominican

Republic 3-1 (25-15, 22-25, 25-22, 25-17). Luis David Adames was the top scorer for

Dominican Republic, with 24 points, while Gonzalo Lapera tallied 20, with three blocks

and one ace for Argentina

Match Two: Canada 3, Mexico 2

Canada defeated Mexico in the second match of the Men’s U23 Pan American Cup in

five sets (20-25, 24-26, 25-18, 25-13 and 15-13). Bradley Kufske, Nick del Bianco and

Derek Thiessen finished with 20, 19 and 12 points respectively in a very closed match.

For Mexico, that is participating with the U19 unit, the top scorers were Enrique

Ugalde and Mauricio Lopez, with 17 and 12 points.

Dominican Republic held Preliminary Inquiry at Langley City Hall.

Dominican Republic was the last team to arrive for the Men’s U23 Pan American Cup.

The team coached by Osiel Vazquez held its Preliminary Inquiry at the Langley City Hall,

after the Technical Meeting, to present the proper documents and set the registration

of all his players. “Our team is very young, and we have been preparing for this Cup.

We hope our players do their best for this tournament and give a good result to the

Dominican Republic”, said coach Vazquez.

The Langley Events Centre tuvo su primera noche de voleibol internacional en su joven

historia, con la realización de la Copa Panamericana de voleibol varonil Sub 23. La

ceremonia oficial de apertura tuvo lugar poco después del primer partido entre

Argentina y República Dominicana, con un desfile de las cinco selecciones participantes

y la entonación del Himno Nacional Canadiense, al igual que la presentación del torneo

y de los miembros tanto del comité de control como de la organización de la

competencia.

Argentina abrió su participación en la con una victoria su participación en la Copa

Panamericana de Voleibol Varonil categoría Sub 23, tras imponerse a República

Dominicana por marcador de 3-1 (25-15, 22-25, 25-22, 25-17). Luis David Adames fue

el mejor anotador por el cuadro Dominicano con 24 puntos, mientras que Gonzalo

Lapera registró 20, con tres bloqueos y un as para Argentina.

Segundo Partido: Canada vs. Mexico
