Words of wisdom . . . “No one must say that they cannot be close to the poor because their own lifestyle demands more at-tention to other areas. This is an excuse commonly heard in academic, business or professional, and even ecclesial circles. While it is quite true that the essential vocation and mission of the lay faithful is to strive that earthly realities and all human activity may be transformed by the Gospel, none of us can think we are exempt from concern for the poor and for social justice…” Pope Francis - Joy of The Gospel

CROSSING GUARD DUTY BEGINS MONDAY MAY 12TH. VOLUNTEERS ARE
ASKED TO PLEASE CHECK YOUR SCHEDULES.
Sunday May 11 ~ 4th Sunday of Easter Scripture Repent and be baptized, every one of you …
(Acts 2:38) The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
(Psalm 23) When he was insulted, he returned no insult; (1
Peter 2:23) … I am the gate. Whoever enters through me
will be saved, (John 10:9)
Reflection Have you ever turned to Psalm 23 in time of
trouble for reassurance? Do you follow Jesus’ example (1Peter) and not
return violence with violence or insult with in-sult?
Does Jesus offer a radically different way from the accepted way of the world?
How do you enter a this this gate? Is Jesus the gate?
Could this world be different? Hear my voice, for it is the voice of all victims of all wars and violence among individuals and nations; Hear my voice, for it is the voice of all children who suffer and will suffer when people put their faith in weapons and war; Hear my voice when I ask you to instill into the hearts of human beings the wisdom of peace, the strength of justice, and the joy of fellowship; Hear my voice, for I speak for the multitudes in every country and in every period of history who do not want war and are ready to walk the road to peace; Hear my voice and grant insight and strength so that we may always respond to hatred with love, to injustice with total dedication to justice, to need with the sharing of self, to war with peace. O God, hear my voice and grant unto the world your everlasting peace.1
