through Mary's intercession our prayers will be heard and answered. Special invitation for chil-dren to assist with the Crowning of Mary and the Rosary. Meet downstairs at 6 pm for instructions.

Social to follow. All welcome.

Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary Mary enjoys a special place in the devotional life of Catholics during the month of May. This is an ex-cellent time to promote sound cat-echesis about the person and the place of the Virgin Mary in the plan of salvation. The biblical in-spiration of love and veneration for Mary under such titles as, ‘full of grace,’ ‘the all holy,’ ‘ever virgin,’ ‘new Eve,’ invite special focus. The Ro-sary is of unparalleled excellence as a form of biblical prayer. The Catechism of the Catholic Church offers a rich treasury of teaching on Mary.

April 26, 2015 - 4th Sunday of Easter In His Name

Acts 4:8-12 Peter proclaims Jesus as Savior to the

Sanhedrin. Psalm 118 The stone rejected by the builders has

become the cornerstone. 1 John 3:1-2 We are God’s children now. John 10:11-18 Jesus is the Good Shepherd.

Recently an old couple went to the city animal shelter to adopt a dog. They picked Regan, a pointer mix, from the kennels. The couple was told to wait in the “get-acquainted room” while staff went to fetch the dog. When Re-gan was brought into the room by the handler, he showed no inter-

est in the old couple. Regan’s entire focus was on his handler. She was his shepherd, his only hope in the despair of the dog pound. When Regan’s handler left the room to leave him alone with the old couple, Regan pointed toward the door through which she would return. The old couple decided that Regan should go home with the handler he loved so much. That’s the way it should be for us. We are the sheep of Jesus’ flock. Jesus is our only hope in the despair of the world. We know that in the end, our shepherd will come and lead us safely home. -- Dc. Dick Folger Next Week’s Readings… Acts 9:26-31 Saul testifies in Jerusalem following his conversion. Psalm 22 I will praise you, Lord, in the assembly of

your people. 1 John 3:18-24 Those who are in Christ love in deed and in truth. John 15:1-8 I am the vine, you are the branches.

Altar Servers Awards

Last Thursday evening, two altar servers from St. Helen’s received the “Bishop’s Award For Service”

from the Most Rev. Gerard Bergie, Bishop of St. Catharine’s during the 4th Annual Altar Servers Awards Ceremony at St. Alfred Church. We of-

fer our sincere thanks and congratulations to the following altar servers from our parish for the hon-our they received: Alex Memme and Olivia Hen-driks. Each year, altar servers from parishes

throughout the Diocese are selected for this special recognition in light of their dedication, sense of re-sponsibility and display of leadership in the perfor-mance of their duties. The parish is truly grateful to all of its altar servers for their participation at the celebration of the Eu-charist and other liturgical functions throughout the

Church year.
