The Mission of the Sandy Creek United Methodist Church is: To open hearts by putting faith and love in action through works, deeds and words that heal and free; To open our minds by worshiping together as a faith family, by reading and studying the Bible and by growing in knowledge and love of God through disciplined Christian living; To open our doors by living the belief that all persons are of sacred worth, and by seeking to live locally, nationally, and globally in Christian community, welcoming, loving and forgiving one another. Welcome Announcements Sharing the Peace of Christ L: May the peace of Christ be with you, P: And also with you! Call to Worship (Psalm 119:33-40) Leader: Teach me, O Lord, the way of your statutes; and I will keep it to the end. People: Give me understanding, that I may keep your law and observe it with my whole heart. Leader: Lead me in the path of your commandments, for I delight in it. People: Incline my heart to your testimonies, and not to gain! Leader: Turn my eyes from looking at vanities; and give me life in your ways. People: Confirm to your servant your promise, which is for those who fear you. Leader: Turn away the reproach which I dread; for your ordinances are good. People: Behold, I long for your precepts; in your righteousness give me life! *Hymn “Morning Has Broken” #145 Invocation (Prayer of Confession) Leader: Lord, we confess our day to day failure to be truly human. People: Lord, we confess to you. Leader: Lord, we confess that we often fail to love with all we have and are, often because we do not fully understand what loving means, often because we are afraid of risking ourselves. People: Lord, we confess to you. Leader: Lord, we cut ourselves off from each other and we erect barriers of division. People: Lord, we confess to you. Leader: Lord, we confess that by silence and ill- considered word People: we have built up walls of prejudice. Leader: Lord, we confess that by selfishness and lack of sympathy People: we have stifled generosity and left little time for others. Leader: Holy Spirit, speak to us. Help us to listen to your word of forgiveness, for we are very deaf. Come, fill this moment and free us from sin.
