About the Congress
The triennial World Petroleum Congress is held over five days with more
than 4000 delegates, 600 media and 550 presenters participating in a pro-
gramme that covers all aspects of the industry, from technological advances
in upstream and downstream operations, to the role of natural gas, renew-
able and alternative energy, the management of the industry and its social,
economic and environmental impact.
Known as the ―Olympian Event of the Oil and Gas Industry‖, it is attended by a global oil and gas audience and outside stakeholders such as govern-ments, other industry sectors, NGOs and international institutions who also join in the dialogue. The World Petroleum Exhibition, held alongside the congress, and in the same venue, features exhibits from the national committees of the World Pe-troleum Council, which include the most prestigious national oil and gas com-panies and agencies of the world. It also showcases the most important inter-national oil and gas companies alongside key suppliers, service companies and manufacturers. This is the most significant global exhibition dedicated to the oil and gas industries.
Dear Industry Professional, It has taken 74 years for the largest petroleum congress in the world to come to the largest oil and gas producing region in the world - the Middle East. On be-half of my esteemed neighbors, I am extremely proud that the State of Qatar has the honour of hosting the 20th World Petroleum Congress in December 2011.The Congress is being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, and will bring together global leaders of the petroleum industry. The theme of the Congress – Energy Solutions for All: Promoting Cooperation, Innovation and Investment – provides an excellent opportunity for delegates to discuss how the petroleum industry will meet the energy challenges of the 21st century. As you may know, the State of Qatar has one of the fastest growing economies in the world, offering the international community a variety of world-class prod-ucts and services. For more than three decades the State of Qatar has carefully prepared, and successfully executed, our ambitious plans for the utilization of its large hydrocarbon reserves. Under the wise leadership of His Highness the Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, great achievements have been made at an astonishing pace. Going forward, the State of Qatar is committed to delivering clean energy to global markets. Qatar has established itself as the world‘s number one producer and exporter of LNG and is home to the largest and most modern fleet of LNG tankers. The State of Qatar is also a pioneer of the gas-to-liquids industry and one of the leading suppliers of petrochemicals, fertilizers and other natural gas based products. At the 20th World Petroleum Congress, Qatar will once again demonstrate its unique sense of hospitality and its ability to host world-class events. We invite you to the first World Petroleum Congress to be held in the Middle East. I look forward to welcoming you to Doha and sharing with you our culture and tradi-tions, within the modern setting of our flourishing capital. I am sure the Congress will be a historic, successful and memorable event that will not only celebrate the achievements of the petroleum industry, but also make valuable contribution to meeting the world‘s energy needs.
See you in Doha.

The Life builder's Creed Dale Witherington
Today is the most important day of my life. Yesterday with its successes and victories, struggles and failures is gone forever. The past is past. Done. Finished. I cannot relive it. I cannot go back and change it. But I will learn from it and improve my Today. Today. This moment. NOW. It is God‘s gift to me and it is all that I have. Tomorrow with all its joys and sorrows, triumphs and troubles isn‘t here yet. Indeed, tomorrow may never come. Therefore, I will not worry about tomorrow. Today is what God has entrusted to me. It is all that I have. I will do my best in it. I will demonstrate the best of me in it—my character, giftedness, and abilities to my family and friends, clients and associates. I will identify those things that are most important to do Today, and those things I will do until they are done. And when this day is done I will look back with satisfaction at that which I have accomplished. Then, and only then, will I plan my tomorrow, Looking to improve upon Today, with God‘s help. Then I shall go to sleep in peace . . . content.

One of our favourite events of the year is the annual
Multicultural Day, celebrated by Year 9 and the
English Department. On this day, Year 9 students
wear national dress and talk about their language,
traditional dances, music, places of interest, and of
course food...
There were many highlights this year. The Filipino
group not only did a wonderful bird dance but dem-
onstrated how farmers work in the Philippines. The
Malaysian group played the drums, and the Arabic
boys did a sword dance (although only with wooden
swords, for safety reasons!). The Indonesian stu-
dents performed a traditional plate dance, and the
western students told us about their home coun-
tries, from South Africa to Britain. The group from
India, Pakistan and Bangladesh showed us their
beautiful traditional clothes and we all had a go at
dancing with them! After all that activity it was time
for a well-earned meal. Mr O'Neill's‘ ‗millionaire's
shortbread‘ was delicious!

My Art
Ancient Egyptian art is the painting, sculpture, architecture and other arts produced by the civilization in the lower Nile Valley from 5000 BC to 300 AD. Ancient Egyptian art reached a high level in painting and sculpture, and was both highly stylized and symbolic. Much of the surviving art comes from tombs and monuments and thus there is an emphasis on life after death and the preservation of knowledge of the past.
In a more narrow sense, Ancient Egyptian art refers to the canonical 2nd and 3rd Dynasty art developed in Egypt from 3000 BC and used until the 3rd century. Most elements of Egyptian art remained remarkably stable over that 3,000 year period with relatively little out-side influence. The quality of observation and execution started at a high level and remained near that level throughout the period.
