“Point Circle” vs a trapping Press

Best Ball handler takes it out = 1 man

2 and 3 screen and roll back. Once the ball is entered the 1 man sprints to the middle and then to the strong sideline! The back men shift in the opposite direction. The opposite 2 or 3 man who doesn’t get the ball must get behind the basketball (under the rim). When the ball is reversed we are again looking for the 1 man cutting to the middle and then to attack!

On “Point Back” 2 and 3 split opening up the middle. The opposite back man hesitates then sprints middle. Once he catches he is looking opposite for a guard sprinting the court.

1 takes two hard steps toward the corner of the court, plants off his right foot then sprints up the sideline. 2, on 1’s movement, sprints up the lane. 3 must read the defense X1 and X4.

After 1 and 2 have moved, 4 sprints to the ball. He must get open. 3 is looking to throw a perfect pass to 4.

4 makes a reverse pivot on his left foot and looks for 2 sprinting up the sideline. 5 will go away from the ball. 3 will be the release valve if 4 can’t hit 1 or 2 on the run. ATTACK!

If for whatever reason none of this is open and 3 has the baseline, 3 will run at 2. When 2 sees him coming he is to “FLY” up the sideline.

On this pass 1 goes middle and 4 becomes the opposite wing.

If the defense is in a 2-2-1 zone press we run “rope”. 4 and 5 on are a rope. 4 will catch the ball and look to hit 1and 2 streaking up the sides or 5 in the middle of the court.
