From the Principal’s Desk

Welcome! It gives me great pleasure to welcome everyone back to our 2014 School Year. Yes, we did lose some lovely Year 7s to High School but they have been replaced by some equally lovely (though smaller) Kindy students. We have also had approximately forty other students join us this year - a special welcome is extended to all these new families. Thank you to our Uniform Ladies - Karen and Meagan - for their wonderful work prior to school commencing. The children look fantastic in their Bull Creek Primary School uniforms - thank you also to all parents for your conscientiousness in this regard. First Assembly for 2014 Our first assembly will be held at 8.55am on Friday 14 February. At this assembly our Year 6 and 7 Prefects and Faction Captains will be presented with their 2014 badges. School Planning Day - Wednesday 19 February 2014 This year schools have been given the opportunity to use one additional School Planning Day during the school year. The main purpose of this day is to make progress with the newly introduced Australian Curriculum. Our school will be having this day on Wednesday 19 February. The children do not attend school on this day. P & C Meeting Our P & C Annual General Meeting will be held on Monday 17 February at 7pm in the Amenities Centre. CELLO LESSONS Year 4 Beginners’ lesson : 9 - 9.30am in NEW Music room. Year 5s and Christian Spencer : 9.30 - 10am in NEW Music room. Orchestra rehearsals will begin on Monday 17th February. Time for Orchestra rehearsals - To be Advised. Please note there will be no Bull Creek Cellos hired anymore. VIOLIN LESSONS SIM Violin lessons will begin on Tuesday 11th February with Mrs Miles. Medical Alert Life Threatening Allergies

We have a number of children in the school with severe food allergies which include eggs, nuts and nut products. The children in most cases need only to touch an object which has been touched by a child that has eaten a product containing these foods for there to be a life threatening reaction. Please support the safety of all the children in the school and refrain from sending any egg and nut products in your child’s lunch and snacks. These may include nutella, peanut butter sandwiches, snickers bars, etc. Thank you for helping to keep our children safe. Sue Martin Associate Principal

IN2CRICKET PROGRAM This year the WACA will be running a very special in2CRICKET program at the world famous WACA ground for 5-8 year old girls & boys. This once in a lifetime opportunity gives kids the chance to learn fun cricket skills at the ground where this summer their heroes regained the Ashes! There will also be a ‘Boy Free Zone’ for all girls, plus the chance to meet your WA heroes on the first session! 7 week program starts Tuesday 25th February, 4.30pm.
