the exterior. For extra durability a second furring partition with a second
layer of 5/8” GWB on the outside can be created.
• Select 4 7/8” Wall Type > Edit Type > Duplicate
• Remove Layer 5 – Interior GYB and Save

Lab Bays: Column Grid is 20’-6” – Bay Size is 10’-3”. Research Lab Spaces will be
single, double or triple bay. For each research lab you should include a
faculty office of approximately 120 sq ft. Doors can be removed to simplify
corridor and to maximize available shaft space.

Lab Programming : Possible Teaching Lab Spaces
Program: When a project begins development the architect working closely with the client develops and refines the building program. A program is a listing of “required” spaces with their square footages. In an academic building the program may be broken down by department. Working with this as a guide the architect looks to fit these puzzle pieces into the building layout.

Lab Programming : Layout by Department
Patchwork: A programmed floor plan may include a combination of spaces by department
as well as some shared spaces. Programming is a compromise.
