What does it mean to propel?
TO CAUSE TO MOVE FORWARDOR ONWARD

Building Propellers• Using a sharpie, record ‘R’ or ‘L’ (for
right or left) on the yellow propeller• Place the propeller on the screw• Tighten a nut behind it
• Tighten another nut midway up the screw

• Using small pliers, remove the cap from the motor

• Place cylinder top on motor• Make sure hole is directed at the
flat side
• Place screw on wrench• Screw into cylinder top

• Tighten screw into cylinder top• Tighten nut onto cylinder top
**When finished with propeller, use lock-tight glue to secure nuts and propeller. DO NOT use lock-tight glue if you plan to rebuild propellers with students.

Building Propellers
Let’s build a few more!
![Page 9: Building Propellers](https://reader035.vdocuments.mx/reader035/viewer/2022081419/56816567550346895dd7f365/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
Building Propellers
Be sure to test them out!
![Page 10: Building Propellers](https://reader035.vdocuments.mx/reader035/viewer/2022081419/56816567550346895dd7f365/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
Attach a hose clamp to the propeller, and tighten around a PVC connector.
Mounting the Propellers
![Page 11: Building Propellers](https://reader035.vdocuments.mx/reader035/viewer/2022081419/56816567550346895dd7f365/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Mounting the Propellers
What should we consider when mounting the propeller?• How will propeller placement effect
speed/maneuverability?
• Where on the ROV?
• Close together? Far apart?
• In frame? Out of frame?
![Page 12: Building Propellers](https://reader035.vdocuments.mx/reader035/viewer/2022081419/56816567550346895dd7f365/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
Mounting the Propellers
• Attach propeller to ROV
• Two propellers will be up and down• Two propellers will be
forwards/backwards/right/left
![Page 13: Building Propellers](https://reader035.vdocuments.mx/reader035/viewer/2022081419/56816567550346895dd7f365/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
• Where on the frame?• Which direction will it
face?• Is there anything
obstructing its view?• How do we attach it?
What should we consider when mounting the camera?
Mounting the Camera
![Page 14: Building Propellers](https://reader035.vdocuments.mx/reader035/viewer/2022081419/56816567550346895dd7f365/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
Mounting the CameraFirst remove the silver torpedos from bottom of camera.
You can attach the camera using hose clamps or zip ties.
