School of Architecture Awards Program 2006, 2007, 2008Three awards are to be awarded in each of the following three years of the program.
Jury: A committee made up of the teaching staff and the director
1) First-year Award ($500): for the best paper analyzing an historic iron or steel structure in the first-year course Architectural Structures (ARCH 241). In this required course, architectural structures are studied by careful analysis of the development of architectural structural concepts and the utilization of various structural materials throughout time. The SSEF prize will be awarded to the paper written by the group of 3 or 4 students who will not only analyze in depth an historic structure using iron or steel as its main constituent, but also place it in a context of preceding and following structures, thus highlighting the ever-changing nature of structural systems using iron or steel in architecture. Eligibility: Students registered in the course.
2) Third-year Award ($1000): for the best final Design and Construction project (ARCH 406) of the BSc(Arch) graduating class, using steel as a fundamental material. Eligibility: Students registered in the course
3) Professional Master's Degree Award ($1500): for the best Thesis Project (ARCH 673) submitted for the Professional Master's degree, using steel as a fundamental material. Eligibility: Students registered in the course.
