Mission 2020 for Entrepreneurs
Provide access to Computing Power and Software Applications (citizen, consumer, office productivity, business, entertainment etc.,) to ALL by 2020 at an affordable price from anywhere, anytime and any device
If you have Innovation and Risk taking appetite there are plenty of opportunities… it is in your hands
8
Realizing Mission 2020
The two areas which we can not afford to ignore are!
Cloud Computing Mobility
COMPUTING POWER AVAILABILITY IS THE KEY
Desktop or Mobile it does not matter…
It took almost 150+ years for India to take serious steps for electrification of urban and Rural India. We don’t have that much time to wait for having commercially viable Computing power for India
10
Government and Industry have been investing to generate computing power..
• Government & Industry have established large data centers … but
• Academia does not have the required money to build their own data centers
• Common people do not have commercially viable high capacity computing power
11
Computing power generated by data centers is costing us significantly… the negative impact
• World wide carbon emissions from Data Centers would quadruple by 2020
• World wide 44 million servers consume 0.5% of electricity
• Data Centers consume near 25% of total corporate IT Budgets
12
Computing power generated by data centers is costing us significantly… the negative impact (contd..)
• Electricity consumption was equivalent to 14 power plants (The total electric bill to $7.2 billion worldwide)
• Average utilization of hardware is only 5%-15% of the total capacity
• 60-70% of IT spent is on applications maintenance
13
Commercially viable Computing Power is the need of the hour
• Small enterprises: No Data center still need Technology
support to drive business
• Occasional usage of IT applications not in regular use – why
to invest?
• Urgency in setting up the operations due to business
demand: In weeks not in months?
• Technology experimentation zones for developers/team: Set
up in days not in months

Customer has a choice…
Own vs. Rent Computing Power
When to go for what?
Owning Computing power is called Private Cloud Computing
Renting computing power is called Public Cloud Computing
Public clouds are playing the key role in providing Commercially viable Computing Power
Cloud Computing & Enterprise Mobility Few thoughts….
The Market Potential
20
Indian IT Industry
India IT Services Export revenues 1998 – 2010: $2 billion to $50+ billion2020: $175 billion target
20
Today’s Success Mantra: Accelerate the growth in a non-linear mode by delivering more with less.
deliver more with less resources (human and computing resources).
CLOUD COMPUTING ENABLES “DELIVERY MORE WITH LESS”
21
What Gartner Says about Cloud Computing?
• Worldwide, cloud services revenue is forecast to reach $68.3 billion in 2010
• The industry is poised for strong growth through 2014, with revenues
projected to reach $148.8 billion.
• Gartner estimates that over the course of the next five years, enterprises
will spend $112 billion cumulatively on software as a service (SaaS),
platform as a service (PaaS), and infrastructure as a service (IaaS),
combined.
22
Cloud Computing demand in our mother land India
According to the Zinnov report, by 2015, the cloud computing market in
India will reach 1 Billion with SaaS capturing 650 Million dollars while PaaS
and IaaS cumulatively get around 440 Million dollars
23
Enterprise Mobility Demand
According to research firm Forrester, Enterprise mobility is the biggest single trend across the
tech industry investment, even outpacing the cloud computing trend. The increasing
importance of the space is reflected in robust market traction predictions for India as well.
According to Frost & Sullivan, the enterprise mobility market in India was worth about Rs. 346
crore in FY2008-09 and is estimated to reach Rs 1,880 crore by FY 2015-16.Growth rates for
the enterprise mobility market in India are estimated to be among the highest in the Asia
region.
As per Forrester research Mobile marketing will boom in 2011, crossing the $1 billion threshold
for mobile display ads and search, as consumers search for goods, buy Groupon deals and
make travel arrangements.Smart phones are becoming true alternative to the personal
computer

Back to Future
INDIA
Invention of Number system & Zero The world’s first University in 700 BC Algebra, Trigonometry and Calculus came from
India In 1001, 33% of the world’s trade was from India Invention of Chess Sushruta is the father of surgery (2600 years ago). Richest Country in the world till early 17th Century. Contribution for concept of 365 days in a year
Leadership, Thought Leadership, Innovation, Globalization etc. are not new for India. India has a rich heritage of Intellectuals.
“We owe a lot to the Indians, who taught us how to count, without which no worth while scientific discovery could have been made”
--Albert Einstein
Let us collectively aim at transforming India into a Global
Leader through spirit of
Entrepreneurship
