Building a Sustainable Development Model for China's poverty-stricken
reservoir regions based on System Dynamics
Outline
1. Who are the readers?
1) academic and research scientists specialising in regional sustainability;
2) policy makers and government officers in China's poverty-stricken reservoir regions (CPRR).
2. Benefits for readers.
1) the System Dynamics Model (SDM) method could be reliable and applied to modelling and analysing the
dynamic development in CPRR;
2) this study suggest that policy makers could re-examine the dialectical relationship between economic
development and eco-environment, and tackle geo-disasters and eco-environmental protection together into
systematic poverty reduction and sustainable development strategies in CPRR.
3. Goals of this paper.
1) examine how China might achieve its 2020 poverty eradication target;
2) investigate what portfolio strategy would be best for sustainable development in CPRR.
4. Significance of this paper.
This study offers insights to help policy-makers select optimal actions on poverty reduction and to inform
government officers of possible policy design and strategies to promote sustainable development.
5. Research design and structure of this paper
