ABOUT MANGALURU

Our institution is named after this great stalwart, as a tribute to his contributions to the growth of Besant Institutions. A multifaceted
personality - a political leader, social worker, temple trustee, banker and
a great educationist – he brought about transformational development
of Women’s National Education Society, which gave birth to several
new institutions through his visionary leadership.
We draw inspiration from our founder, who was a prominent British socialist, theosophist, women’s rights activist, writer and orator and supporter of Irish and Indian self-rule.

ABOUT THE
INSTITUTE
The inspiring saga of Besant Institutions began in 1918 when Dr. Annie Besant, the renowned social reformer, laid the foundation stone for Besant Primary School at Kodialbail in Mangalore. The school, which was initially managed by the Theosophical Society of India has played host to illustrious personalities like the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, Nobel laureate Sir Rabindranath Tagore and the Governor General of India, Sri. C. Rajagopalachari.
Women’s National Education Society (WNES), Mangalore established in 1943 took over the school administration from the Theosophical Society. Since then the institution has recorded continuous growth under the leadership of its visionary administrators like the late Manel Srinivas Nayak, late B. Damodar Prabhu, late Manel Krishna Nayak and the late Prof. P. P. Gomathi.
Their far sighted initiatives resulted in the establishment of seven institutions, namely Besant Pre Nursery School, Besant Higher Primary School (Kannada Medium), Besant High School (Kannada Medium), Besant English School, Besant National Pre-University College, Besant Women’s College and Besant Evening College.
In 1999, WNES spread out its wings to launch its most prestigious academic venture – the MSNM Besant Institute of PG Management Studies - on a new campus situated at Bondel, in the outskirts of Mangalore. This is today the flagship institution of WNES, being widely recognised as a frontrunner in modern management education.

MBAP R O G R A M M E
The contemporary business world is characterised by unprecedented changes and challenges. Global integration, collaboration and competition have today redefined the rules of business enterprises and their culture. The companies place high premium on ‘drive for excellence’ and are on the lookout for highly qualified and competent human resources with an overwhelming passion for work, a strong sense of professional ethics and single minded determination to achieve their goals without sacrificing their rich heritage of human values.
MSNM Besant Institute of PG Management Studies is aims fulfil this need. Our two-year MBA programme is spread over four semesters. Affiliated to Mangalore University, the programme is approved by AICTE, New Delhi and the Government of Karnataka and accredited by NAAC.
In the first year, the students are introduced to the fundamental concepts in various disciplines like Economics, Marketing, Finance, HRM, BRM and IT and the thrust is on developing and improving the conceptual knowledge in different functional areas of management. In the second year, elective papers enable the students to focus on strategic issues and challenges in their functional areas of interest. The learning is made an enjoyable exercise for the students at our institute with the use of creative pedagogical practices and tools. The Summer Training at reputed companies, at the end of the first year, helps to enrich the practical knowledge and corporate exposure to the students.

ELIGIBILITY ADMISSION PROCEDUREGraduates in any discipline coming under the 10+2+3 scheme with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/CATEGORY1) in aggregate including languages from a recognized University are eligible.
The candidates are required to appear for MAT/CAT/CMAT/KMAT for admission on merit under management quota. The students aspiring for admission through the government quota have to appear for PGCET conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA).

Placement AssistanceThe preparation of the students for the final placement commences on day one at our institute. Training sessions on self-introduction, cracking aptitude test, crafting resume, group discussion and micro presentation are arranged on a regular basis and resource persons from industry are invited to conduct these sessions. Students are encouraged and assisted to appear for competitive Exams like IBPS, IAS, and KAS etc. The history of the institute, good corporate relationship and strong alumni network are the cardinal forces behind the successful placement drive of the institute. Hostel and CanteenThe institute campus includes separate well-furnished hostels for boys and girls. The hostels are well maintained under the disciplinary supervision of a resident warden. The hostels have excellent canteens serving delicious, hygienic food appealing to both north Indian and south Indian tastes.
