Bug Spray Science Experiment Pictures
By: Riah VandeZande
High DEET SunglassesThis is a house. You probably can’t tell since the High DEET
Bug Spray made it so
blurry!
Low DEET Sunglasses This is the same house
that was shown in the
High DEET Bug Spray lens. It’s a
little bit easier to tell
what it is!
High DEET Paper
As you can see, there’s a big white spot
on it. This is partially
because it’s still wet, but
there is a waxy coating that’s a little difficult
to see.
Low DEET Paper
As you can see, there is
not much damage
except for a slight
staining in the paper.
High DEET WoodChanged
the color in the wood to
much darker and with small red dots all over. There is another waxy coat similar to
the one on the paper.
Low DEET Wood
Did not affect the
wood much.
Made a slight
darkening in the wood.
High DEET CardboardFormed a huge wax spot on
the cardboard
just like the one
that formed on the paper and wood,
but was much
whiter and more
noticeable.
Low DEET Cardboard
Made a slight sticky substance
on the cardboard
and the cardboard was a little darker than
before.
High DEET Leaf
All the off soaked
through to the
opposite side of the leaf and formed a
wet, greasy
substance.
Low DEET LeafOn the
side that it was
applied, there is a slight wet,
greasy substance which is
not as bad as the high
DEET.
High DEET Plastic
Formed a wet greasy substance inside the
plastic container and made the plastic
a bit frosted and
blurry. Also, the
substance turned white.
Low DEET Plastic
There is only a slight wet, greasy substance that is not noticeable except to the touch.
High DEET Triangular Bandage
Made small, hardened
wax spots on the triangular bandage that you could see if you looked closely. They were a white
color.
Low DEET Triangular Bandage
There is no noticeable
change except a
slight sticky feeling on
the material.
