o o Shadow effect is implemented.

Bug fixes:

MatrixFrame® General:

The deflection calculations of “Wmax” and “W2 + W3” are modified according the latest data. For “Wmax” the W3 will be calculated with the “Quasi permanent combination”.

The calculation of the moment of inertia for a parametric U –shape was incorrect.

When importing a RTF file, the correct code is now being set. Problem with copying load combinations, when for the 1st load case no values were entered, is

resolved. After deleting all grid lines it was not possible to add a new relative grid line.

Occasionally MatrixFrame was crashing on export DXF. Strange moment jumps could happen when a concentrated load with an angle was used on a member.

Reports:

In 3D were "Ch.C. Extreme support reactions" and "Extreme Fr.C. support reactions" not printed. Occasionally the pictures were not rotated when “Picture format” was on Smart “

Loads generator NEN-EN:

Several changes have been made in “Loads calculations”

For a canopy wind load and snow load were wrongly combined in the combinations.

For a roof load the maximum area of 10 m2 was only taken into account the maximum length in the

direction along the beam and not perpendicular to it.

Button “Select member” was not working in screen for imposed loads.

2D Grillage:

When generating the DXF the piles were not shown in the "Merged drawing"

3D Frame:

If an eccentricity was applied with all 0 values, strange moment jumps could occur.

When copying and pasting "polar" were not all columns set with the correct profile tag. With tension and / or compression elements the profile rotation was blocked and set to 0.

FEM:

Occasionally the orientation was wrong on importing from a IFC 2D Wall.

The support reactions, of the generated fields, have not been shown in the pictures

Concrete check:

In FNL the creep is implemented for the ULS

There was wrongly checked for "sl, max = 0.75 * d (1 + cot (a))" if no shear reinforcement was

needed.

In the report for a floor wrongly brackets were displayed.

Steel check:

Setting added for a stress check when torsion is present in the model.

Angular section “L150x90x10” was determined incorrectly in section class 3. Occasional MatrixFrame Toolbox did not give the same UC's as MatrixFrame.

The status bar bottom of the screen was occasionally suspended at +/- 70%. In the EN a lateral buckling check was wrongly done for a square tube.

Occasional a symmetrical 3D model in which the check for “z” was done, gave asymmetric UCs. Recognition of structure types is improved for deflection. Incidentally, when combining structural members, beams were removed from the steel check

Timber check:

Deflection check is now always done with the Characteristic combinations according “NEN-EN1995-1-1:2011/NB:2013”.

For strength class D70 was wrongly the “k;h” used from NEN-EN1995-1-1#3.2(3) for calculating f;m,y,d.

Steel Joint connections:

MatrixFrame: o After first time clicking on “Design” the Toolbox was not updated again with the next click. o A 90 degrees rotated I –section was wrongly added to “Column base plate”.

A moment check is added for the reduced part from a “Bolted- splice joint”. In the NEN-EN the shear area of the beam was calculated to be beneficial.

The weld was too unfavorable determined at a stiffened column flange. Column base plate:

o The concrete cover was wrongly shown in the drawing. o Calculation of base plate thickness with only tension and shear was incorrect.

Tube connections: o For a “TY joint” with pure tension on it the used length of the weld was too unfavorable.

Weld length is now also shown I reports. o In an “X joint” was for "Check for application zone NEN-EN 1993-1-8 Table 7:10 using NEN-

EN 1993-1-8 Table 7.9" an incorrect check (b, 1, 3 / t) done. This had to be (b, 3 / b, 1). o The “Punching shear” calculation for the bar was a too favorable.

Beam-Column:

Page 4: Bug fixes - Matrix Software

Matrix Software | Wijchenseweg 116 | 6538 SX Nijmegen (t) +31-24-3434380 | (f) +31-24-3434389 | [email protected] | www.matrix-software.nl

o The bolts were drawn on the incorrect position for an “Single T –joint” o Welds could not be filled in for the “Single T –joint” and “Single L –joint”

Column-Beam: o An incorrect L;eff was determined in "ENDPLATE IN BENDING (NEN-EN 1993-1-8

#6.2.6.5)" when the bolts were placed outside the flanges.

MatrixFrame® Toolbox:

Fire protection calculation: o Incidentally no calculation was done if the element type has been changed. o For element type "beam" the lateral buckling check is not done any more if the buckling length

is 0.000 m.

In the module "Foundation slab" wrongly included its own weight in the determination of the maximum friction force again.

Cross calculation M+V+T: o For the NEN-EN 1992 if the check “TEd / TRd,c + VEd / VRd,c < 1,0” was not OK was

incorrectly only shear force reinforcement calculated. Torsion reinforcement was only added if Ted > T;Rd,c.

o The check on torsion reinforcement was not correct done with the setting on “Check”. o Dimension for T;Rd;max and T;Rd;c were incorrect in the form.

In report from Vu capacity the columns V;Rd;max and V;Rd were swapped. For column calculation the check on minimum eccentricity was wrongly done on the M0Ed instead of

Med. Several corrections are done in the reports.

MatrixFrame version 5.1 SP3 - Release notes

Processed in version 5.1 SP3 (April 2014):

Bug fixes:

MatrixFrame® General:

The setting from the checkbox for castellated beams was not always correct saved. Problem on opening was then that it was not recognized as a castellated beam.

After opening a model from 1D beam with user filled in combinations, the factor for “Permanent actions” was deleted when a new load case was added.

Concrete check:

Occasional appeared at activating from concrete control the message "Encountered an improper argument".

In a 2D model was wrongly the message shown for crossing members.

Steel check:

On opening a model in 1D beam with 2 different sections, the equivalent section from the first section was also filled in for the second section.

The lateral buckling check for a castellated beam was incorrect, therefore the UC was to large. The lateral buckling check for an UNP section did not change anymore when extra supports were

used. Now lateral buckling is not done if "lambda_T <= then 0.5".

Steel Joint Connections:

Occasional MatrixFrame did crash with a “Bolted-splice” connection that was with 2 differents sections.

End release note SP3

MatrixFrame version 5.1 SP2 - Release notes

Processed in version 5.1 SP2 (march 2014):

Bug fixes:

MatrixFrame® Toolbox:

In the “Timber beam” modules there was a problem with entering numeric values.

End release note SP2

MatrixFrame version 5.1 SP1 - Release notes

Processed in version 5.1 SP1 (march 2014):

Bug fixes:

MatrixFrame® General:

Setting is added for maximum count of diagrams. This setting ensures that only the results are shown of the selected members. This means that for a GNL calculation of a large model, the total calculation time will be considerably shorter.

Several changes are made for IFC import and export. The user database for export IFC was not always saved correct. Export IFC to Revit is adjusted.

The results were not correct if for a column an rigid link in “Z” was used. Occasional MatrixFrame crashed when opening a model from 5.0

When opening a model with user defined sections the values were incorrect or zero. The visibility option "Generation Precision" with a value from 0.001 for grid- and dimension lines, were

reset to 0.01 after opening mxp file. MatrixFrame could not be started without 2D Fame in the license. When a “Part. trap. Distributed load” was used the activation of the button was changed to “Uni.

distributed load” after apply. Values were not displayed automatically if the dimension lines in the results (My, Vz ....) were turned

on. Memory management has been changed so large models will calculate faster.

In the member view the measurement lines from the supports were not visible.

Reports:

In report “Concrete cross section (compr.) for stirrups the value from Vrd;s was printed instead of Vrd The drawing of a Joint Connection was incorrect scaled if printed from MatrixFrame.

With export to Word some pictures were not on the correct place if the setting for number of columns was 2.

When a free support was used then in report support reaction from 1D in column "Yr" “fixed” was printed instead of “free”.

MatrixFrame could crash if multiple times a report was generated for preview or export.

With picture type on "Jpeg" the support reactions were not printed in reports.

Loads generator NEN-EN:

Frequent combinations were not made when the mobile loads generator was used.

Page 7: Bug fixes - Matrix Software

CsCd calculation is now done according NEN-EN1991-1-4 Annex C.

2 load cases instead of 4 were generated for wind in loads calculations if only wind from left and right was checked.

1D Beam:

Incidentally, the image of a model that was made in 5.0 was incorrectly scaled in 5.1

For a beam that has a part of steel, and a section of wood, steel control could not be done. When a beam over the first part was of steel and the second part of Timber, the deflection of timber

was checked in the wrong place. Incidentally a factor 0.8 was generated instead of 0.9 if 2 load case types dead load were defined, with

one set to favorable. For a beam made out of 3 different sections the self weight was not drawn for the middle part.

Calculation was done correct.

2D Frame:

When using the standard structure "Parabolic" the length was rounded down to whole meters.

FEM:

Generated fields for imposed loads were incidentally causing a error in the mesh.

Reinforcement pictures with setting "Ortho + Iso" were 2 times printed in Ortho. It’s now possible to see all grid lines for loads in all load cases.

Concrete check:

Slow navigation in concrete grids has been solved.

Steel check:

Load attachments in lateral buckling could not be set in grid. For a section (C30) was wrongly an equivalent section specified.

MatrixFrame was crashing if deflection check was turned on for tension only elements.. Sometimes the steel check gave message that no steel sections could be found. Defining 1 section

again in section properties solves this problem. For a structural member made of 2 different sections were incidentally for the steel check the same

equivalent section properties used. Recalculation of section class for fire according NEN-EN 1993-1-2#4.2.2 was done incorrect..

Page 8: Bug fixes - Matrix Software

Lateral buckling settings for the restraints are now done automatically by the program.

If the buttons “Get bigger section “or “Get smaller section” were used in the UC chart the equivalent section was not updated for the entire group.

Lateral buckling for a angular section with a equivalent section was done incorrect. Tab. “Fvtot” was active in NEN-EN and this is incorrect because it should only work for the NEN.

Timber check:

Deflection check for a column with check type set "User / L" was giving all zero values. If a report was generated with compression only elements in it incidentally the message occurs “Deling

door 0" if export to Word was chosen. So no report was shown.

Steel Joint Connections:

The Joint Connections in 2D were not correct updated if a section has been changed in the member table.

In the UC table on the screen was not always the maximum UC shown when connections were grouped. In report the maximum was correct.

For a base plate connection with only shear and compression was wrongly the check for shear combined with tension done.

The left endplate was not shown for an asymmetric bolted splice joint.

MatrixFrame® Toolbox:

In the module "Section properties" were the calculation for an INP to unfavorable.

“Punching” o In the NEN the reduction of the punching force for edge and corner columns was to big.. o Several improvements have been made in the reports. o Check for filling in correct notification of reinforcement has been added. o In report from advanced punching was the printed covering incorrect. The calculation was

done correct. In the module "Cross calculation M+N" was the check on minimal eccentricity according NEN-

EN1992-1-1#6.1(4) not done. "Column calculation + fire"

o There was occasionally with single bending wrongly the message shown "no internal equilibrium".

o For a round column were not automatically all 4 side turned on.

In the modules "Point supported plate" and "Line supported plate" were user values for imposed loads not taken into account. Only generated values were used. It was also not possible to change the Psi value.

In the report from the module “Beam flat roof” the Cprob for snow was printed incorrect. In the module "Beam floor" it was not possible to fill in user defined deflection values.

In the module “Steel column calculation” it was wrongly possible to rotate a section 90 degrees if setting was on “check”.

Tension reinforcement was incorrect calculated in the module "Bending moment pile". It was not possible to start the MatrixFrame Toolbox if only module “Fire protection calculation” for

steel was in the license.

Adjustments are made in several reports.

MatrixGeo:

Reinforcement calculation for “Bending moment pile” has been changed.

MatrixFrame version 5.1 - Release notes

Processed in version 5.1 (December 2013):

New:

MatrixFrame® General:

New: The combination generator is enhanced with NEN8700. (This is an expansion module)

The combination generator is adjusted in accordance with NEN-EN1990: 2011, art. A1.1 (2) this means that the Cprob is now processed in the combinations as before in the NEN.

Import IFC (Matrix Frame - General - BIM module) has been updated on several fronts and supports 2x3 format besides the 2x4 format.

Beam eccentricities are completely renewed. Loads cannot be placed anymore on the eccentric parts. Redesign of a part of the solver and extensions for the geometry control. Extending a profile is now possible after import from IFC based on profile height. It is now possible to calculate more than 250 cases (LE) or 250 load combinations (advanced). With rainwater accumulation it is now possible, for a beam under a angle, to specify for 3D system the stiffness and the permanent load of the roof panels.

For the enveloping support reactions, an additional layer is added. The text of the decisive combination can be individually turned on or off.

At the first start of the new version the user profiles from the previous version will be converted to the new version and have a version number. This keeps the by Matrix supplied and tuned standard profiles intact.

In the table "LC Type" from load combinations it is now possible to copy the names of the column “LC Type" into the column "Description".

It is now possible to start several times MatrixFrame and to calculate simultaneously. For example, a 1D beam calculation in addition to a 2D GNL calculation

Reports:

All reports have been given a new layout.

The images can now be made in “jpg” format so they are even sharper. For models from a previous version, the "jpg" is selected automatically.

Report for "Settings Timber Check” is added. New report entries have been added for printing load combinations. In addition to the table, a list can

now also be printed.

Loads generator NEN-EN:

It is now possible to set the “CsCd” value to 1in the wind.

The values of the variables are shown in the tooltip in "Loads calculation".

New: The NBN-EN is added to the Load Generator and Combination Generator. (This is an

expansion module)

1D Beam:

New support type is added where "Z = fixed" and "Yr = 50000".

2D Frame:

Concrete walls can now be reinforced with multiple options.

2D Grillage:

In the Visibility options, under Visibility properties, for the pile plan is an additional option added “Filter

size lines." This setting ensures that there are no double dimension lines generated.

3D Frame:

The pan button can now be turned on and so that multiple actions are possible.

Concrete check:

The settings for topping shear and moment are adjusted. For shear only can be chosen. "Topped" and "Not topped" For moment can be chosen "Not topped," "Face of support" and "Reduced dMed". For the reveal of circular supports is the equivalent square dimension used.

The NEN-EN is the shear now topped over a distance "d" if no dimension for the support is introduced.

For FNL the location of the reinforcement is based on the local direction. So if a profile is rotated 180 degrees, the location of the reinforcement will also change.

For a beam on a elastic foundation multiple cuts for reinforcing are generated. For the NEN-EN 1992-1-1the long time E-mod is adjusted also various adjustments made in the MN-

Kappa calculation. Various modifications and extensions made to the "Asmin" calculation and detailing.

o NEN-EN1992/NB:2011 Min. Reinforcement & M-kappa o NEN-EN1992/NB:2011 Check dimension

Steel check:

Stability for not double-symmetrical sections is outside the scope of NEN-EN1993. . In previous versions this could be circumvented by filling in a χLT yourself. In version 5.1, this is solved in the following manner:

o For U-shaped sections now an additional χLT determined in accordance with the article in Building with Steel No. 202.

o For other sections that fall outside the scope (including profiles with varying height) an equivalent section can be chosen which then further considered in the stability test.

It is now possible to define. Parametric U-sections.

The combined Structural members can remain intact after changing loads or load combinations.

It is now possible to change fyd for all structural members in 1 time Change the fyd of the first structural steel section and then click the right mouse button on the cell. Now an option appears "Apply to all".

If two or more components are combined into one structural member, the local deflection of the combined structural member is now being checked.

Timber check:

The ULS and SLS are now calculated with the same E modulus so now no correction is needed for the deflection.

New: The NBN-EN is added to the cross check and deflection check for timber. (This is an expansion

module).

Steel Joint connections:

New: Welds are now possible. (This is an expansion module). In technical drawing, the welds are displayed. In the drawing of the connection the fonts can now be scaled on the screen. Independent of the

image "Ctrl" + "mouse wheel" is only the scaling of fonts. "Ctrl" + "Alt" + "mouse wheel" is scaling of fonts and drawing.

It is now possible to apply a haunch on both sides also the rules for calculating tensile haunches are adjusted.

With tube connections the section angle can now be 90 degrees.

For a beam - beam connections beam plates are now possible. Control of wall thickness in accordance with NEN-EN1993-7.1.1 # 1-8 (6) for pipe connections has

been added.

In a knee join, it is now possible to chamfer without cover plate for the column.

MatrixFrame® Toolbox:

New: Fire Testing of Steel for (un) coated steel sections according to the NEN-EN (successor Brawesta) (This is an extension module)

New: The advanced punching with connection to FEM Floors. With this calculation, the user can influence the punch reduction and edit the punching reinforcement. (This is an expansion module)

New: The NBN-EN is added to the cross check and stability check for timber. (This is an expansion module)

New: The NBN-EN is added to the "Timber beams". (This is an expansion module) New: The NBN-EN is added to the "Steel cross check ". (This is an expansion module).

New layout of toolbars (Ribbon bars). All reports have been given a new layout. Pons for the NEN-EN is completely renewed.

The cover features Article EN1992 art. 4.4.1.3 (4), and 4.4.1.2 (11) are added. UC’s are added to all modules of the masonry in the NEN-EN.

Order of the results for Vu has changed. Now the decisive “V; rd” is shown in the last column. For timber beams, the deflection checks are added in the table “Performed checks”.

MatrixGeo:

New: "Moment in pile" according to the NEN-EN.

New CPT diagram is added to the toolbox for analysis according to three criteria.

Completely new screen digitizer. With support for multiple formats.

Other parts (including, Pressure and Tension pile) will be redelivered by Service Packs.

Bug fixes:

MatrixFrame® General:

Import ASCII gave an error message "Access denied".

All notifications for the deflection in the EN and NEN-EN have been updated. (W1, W2 ...) Incidentally the module stresses has been activated without being available in the license. Beam eccentricities are completely renewed. Loads cannot be placed anymore on the eccentric parts.

Incidentally to the node displacements duplicate values were printed.

Reports:

Occasionally all structural members were printed in steel if a selection set was chosen. Matrix occasionally crashed when creating a report which deleted tension / compression members in

concrete. By "Split into columns" of the image "Concrete Definition" was not printed on the entire paper width.

For FEM results the images were not printed in rows and columns. This is with the new format *. Jpg solved.

Occasionally appeared the message "Memory full" when generating reports. This was due to the size of "bmp" images. By using the new "jpg" picture this happens no longer.

Various model dependent crashes have been resolved.

Loads generator NEN-EN:

The interpolation for wind with +0.0 and - 0.0 is adjusted. There was interpolated wrongly between values with different signs.

The generation of snow on a Multi-span roof was incidentally not symmetrical.

1D beam:

When a support was used with Z=free and Yr=fixed in combination with a hinge with a My value, there was an unexpected moment line.

2D Frame:

In the construction generator was a "Monopitch truss with horizontal free support" the span divided by 2.

2D Grillage:

On a grillage with elastic foundation, with 2 unlinked structures (house + separate garage), was occasionally given the message that rely on advanced construction was unstable.

Making changes in a model, the top view drawing of the foundation plan was not modified, if not concrete bar position was clicked.

When composing concrete drawings fonts were extremely large as the zoom ratio was less than 100%. Now the fonts are fixed at 100% for a smaller percentage.

Steel check:

When checking fire resistant of a column in NEN-EN was for both the Y-and the Z-axis controlled by the buckling length of the Y-axis. The buckling length of the Z axis could not set.

In a 3D model with small axial forces check according NEN-EN1993-1-1 # NB.52 gave extremely high UCs. Checks whether the normal force can be disregarded from 6.2.9.1 (4) 6.33/6.34/6.35 formulas have been added.

In the lateral buckling check for a section where h / b> 2 was incorrectly "Lateral buckling curve a" used.

Incidentally was the lateral buckling check with a symmetrical structure asymmetrical? The C1 value for lateral buckling according to Table NB. 6.1 was performed incorrectly.

When applying an Indian section "MCP" dates of 1lighter section was loaded.

Timber check:

Occasional could arise in specifying lateral restraint for a symmetric model asymmetric UC. For the NEN-EN is in the mechanics and deflection the same E modules (E, mean) used. The database

has been adjusted.

Concrete check:

In the NEN-EN was the shear position for topped not recalculated if the cover was changed.

In a 2D model were wrongly also torsion checks done in the review of the side reinforcement. In the report, the "xu" shown by M_Ed, this is adjusted to M_Rd In the NEN-EN was the Asmin1 calculation fyd (435) used instead fyk (500).

In the NEN-EN for C28/35 still the old density of 24 kN/m3 was used instead of 25 kN/m3. Incidentally, shear force was not properly topped when two supports were close together.

For a T-beam the check of the stirrups for "St, max," according to EN 1992-1-1 # 9.2.2 (8) the total width is used instead of the beam width.

Upon completion of the stirrups in bar position for a deep beam, the "As;dbmin" check was not done. The deflection for a 180 ° rotated T-section, with a negative moment, was not correct. In "Settings Concrete / Support" was for the NEN-EN the column "Klambda" shown from the NEN.

Incidentally, in a symmetrical structure an asymmetrical Vrd,c was shown in the figure. Occasionally crashed Matrix Frame in the concrete module, with the use of temperature loads.

In an FNL calculating for a 180 degree rotated T was the reinforcement not processed correctly.

At FNL it was possible to fill in as well as the placement top, bottom and two sides were possible for a round column R16-150 Now it is only possible on all sides with loose bars.

Steel Joint connections:

When the base plate was not outside of the column, the determination of surface area of below the flanges for the spread, by determining "b; eff" are counted erroneously as the "c "part of the outer side to the inner side.

In a knee joint, the cover plate is now placed in the extension of the flange. Check for shear and tension NEN-EN 1993-1-8 Table 3.4 has been added.

Minor changes have been made in the calculation of a "girder - crossbeam" moment connection. Calculation base plate connection for a CHS has been modified.

In the report for anchor length calculation the smooth steel factor (2) has been added. If a tube connection that was not in the scope of application the UC weld were shown as UC Max.

Now "N / A" is shown in red and in the tooltip is the reason shown.

Weld information is added to the drawing.

MatrixFrame® Toolbox:

Concrete: o Incidentally, in module "column and fire" no equilibrium was found. The equilibrium

calculation is further refined. o In a "line supported plate" was for the NEN As;req not shown, all values were 0. o In the “M+V+T” the Asmin voor cracking is adjusted. o For the punch module a reduction of VEd is not allowed to u0. o In reporting from “M + N” calculation, for reinforcement graph was shown the wrong value

"c / h" it should be "(h-d) / h)". o In the “M + V + T” module Mu was displayed in red because it was smaller than Md. This

was due to the tolerance settings. In the module "Timber beams" are the “separations” removed under permanent loads for the NEN-

EN.

Calculation Rho NEN-EN1996-1-1 # 5.5.1.2 (11) was added for masonry walls.

MatrixGeo:

In the NEN-EN the "Ksi" for more than three CPT diagrams was calculated to be

beneficial. Because the program cannot determine whether the difference between the CPT

diagrams is within the margin of 12% is now always filled in the "Ksi" value associated with one

CPT diagrams. The user can then modify this value itself.
