the beginning of Interest In these units." Indirect Loans
He said that the bank is also heavily involved In what he termed "Indirect loans," that is, financing arranged through the dealers for campers or other recreational vehicles.
He said that one trend that is showing up in the field Is that of a move from tent campers to travel trailers.
The area's newest bank, the Niagara Frontier Bank of New York, is also in the field of lending for r e c r e a t i o n a l vehicles.
Earl P. Fowlston, manager of the consumer credit department for Frontier said that the bank finances these purchases "as personal loans." Good Credit lists
In common with other bank officials, Fowlston said that banks loan In the area quite readily since an individual who wlQ be in the market Is likely to be "one of the prime credit risks."
Credit unions will also make loans iiuthis area. Two sample unions Checked, the Postal Employes Federal Credit Union and the Buffalo Penn-Central Federal Credit Union, both said that they make loans for recreational vehicles. Loans from Liberty
Paul J. Schlageter of the Liberty National Bank & Trust Co. said that the bank makes personal loans for purchases in the field. He said that Liberty is also involved in financing purchases through dealers.
In explaining the differences In the field, he said that by law, a personal loan cannot be made for more than three years, but that financing through the dealers on a retail installment contract can be paid back over five years, since a chattel mortgage is attached, as Is done in the case of an auto purchase.
One of the smaller area banks, the Lincoln National Bank, "welcomes any customer to come in and enquire" about borrowing for a recreational purchase. Personal Basil
A spokesman for the Manufacturers & Traders Trust Co. said that as far as a recreational vehicle loan is concerned, "We treat it just like any personal loan." As with most other banks it is based on credit and restricted to a three-year term.
An executive of the Western Savings Bank said that his bank does not make vehicle loans in this area because he believes that it is contrary to the state law governing savings banks. He shared this point of view with the First Federal Savings & Loan.
Vehicles Used 5 Weeks Yearly Responses show the median
use of a recreational vehicle is nearly five weeks a year, About one-fourth of the owners use their vehicle lets than oat month, while another one-fourth use it more than three months.
The median miles travelled with their recreational vehicle in 1968 is Just under 3,400 miles. Almost an equal number travel each of the distances 1,000, 2,000, 3,000, 4,000 3000, 6000, miles, with those travelling
2,000-3,000 and 3,0004,000 being a few more owners than travel-ltd in tfie other categories.
About as many owners travelled over 7,000 miles as in each of the 1,000-mite categories.

Campground Directory Is Offered Free
BILLINGS, Mont. — Approximately 350 deluxe family campgrounds are listed, along with allustrated location maps, in the new Kampgrounds of America (KOA) campgrounds directory.
The recently published 1970 edition also describes the reservations system which enables a camper to phone ahead — free of charge — for advance reservations at any KOA Kamp-ground from coast to coast.
Also ne win this directory are listings for Canada. The KOA system is expanding rapidly into Canada to meet the camper demand in those vast, scenic provinces. The directory lists four Ranch Kamps in full operation for 1970. Families can enjoy a true "dude ranch" vacation — on a camper's budget with their recreational vehicles — at an RKOA Ranch Kamp.
Also described is the unique K-OAsis "stay-or-tow" program offered by KOA. Camping trailers are available for rent at selected KOAs across the country. The campers may rent them for an overnight on the campground like a motel room, or they may have the JCOA host hook them to their trailer for down-the-road scenic excursions.
The 68-page full-color KOA director is available, free of charge, s i m p l y by writing: Kampgrounds of America, Inc., P.O. Box 1138, Billings, Mont. 59103.
Bureau Lists Camp Sites In Canada
OTTAWA — Some of the best places in North America to pitch a tent or pull up a trailer are listed in a booklet published by the Canadian Government Travel Bureau.
The 52 p a g e s of "Canada Campgrounds" give an easy-to-read, province-by-province rundown of tenting, trailer and picnic sites along the 5,000-mile Trans-Canada Hwy., which extends from Victoria, B.C., to St. John's Newfoundland. The book lists only facilities operated by the federal and provincial governments.
All national and provincial parks adjacent to the Trans-Canada Hwy. arc included: The Rocky Mountin national parks of Yoho and Banff, Cape Breton Highlands National Park on the Atlantic coast, and provincial parks, like the lovely ones that ring Georgian Bay and Lake Superior in Ontario.
The colorful, illustrated booklet makes use of easily-recognizable symbols to denote facilities available at each site.'
Copies of "Canada Campgrounds" are available free from the Canadian Government Travel Bureau office at 247 Mid-
Plaza, Rochester, 14604.

County to Open
By MICHAEL DESMOND The coming of spring is going
to bring another 27 sites on which campers can park their tents, campers or travel trailers when Erie County opens a camping site at Sprague Brook Park.
James J. Harrigan, county commissioner of parks and recreation, said that the new park will be open April 15 with the permanent sanitary facilities ready to support the campsites. Sprague Brook is located on the town line between Sardinia and Concord with the entrance on Foote Rd. It is south of the Kissing Bridge ski area. Opening Delayed
The park was originally scheduled to open in its entirety in 1969, but a combination of bad weather and a lengthy construction strike pushed opening of the campsites into this year.
In addition to the campsites, the park contains picnic groves some of which are in use, although not completed last year. Plans call for the addition of snowmobile trails, a wildlife area with deer and geese and two trout-stocked ponds for fishing. Three State Parka
The Niagara Frontier State Parks Commission, the regional state authority governing parks on the Niagara Frontier, has three widely separated camping areas a v a i l a b l e : Four Mile Creek State Park, Evangola State Park and Golden Hill State Park. All open May 15.
Largest of the three state campsites is at Four Mile Creek, located off Robert Moses Parkway and Route 18. This park, three miles from Youngstown, is on Lake Ontario and has a beach with lifeguards. The beach is limited to camper use.
There are currently 265 developed sites in the park. A full range of permanent sanitary facilities is located in the camping area. "Rough Camping*
A new camping area is opening with 50 sites at Golden Hiu, located on Lake Ontario at the Niagara - Orleans counties line near Somerset. ~
According to the commission, this park is set up for "rough camping." The support facilities for campers do not include showers.
Evangola State Park, located on the Evans-Brant town line near the Village of Farnham,
lias 40 campsites and a full range of permanent sanitary facilities. 4.000-foot Beach
The main feature of Evangola is a 4,000-foot sand beach and three bathhouses. There are also picnic groves located around the area of the park.
Gov. Rockefeller, in the new proposed budget, is asking the State Legislature for $250,000 for campsites at Evangola in the former YMC\ camp "Forty Acres."
Niagara Frontier State Parks have a standard charge for camping: 12 per night and $2,50 with electricity. The commission will not accept requests for reservations for a period of less than seven days. The maximum
stay will be 14 days. Checks for the full amount must accompany all reservations.
