BTT 1028 Minute Book - Brading Parochial Committee Page 1 10 th October 1961 A meeting of the Brading Parochial Committee was held at the Old Town Hall Brading on Tuesday the 10 th October 1961. Present Mr. F.J.Simmonds in the Chair and Messrs Kenney Reynolds Summerbell Newman Deacon and Squibb. Minutes The minutes of the last meeting held on 12 th September 1961 were read approved and signed by the Chairman. Applications Mrs. E. Goodwin - The Committee having now received the required information regarding income now considered the application. It was proposed by Mr Summerbell seconded by Mr. Kenney that this application be refused carried unanimously. No 24 Station This two bedroom house would shortly become vacant and Gardens the Committee were asked to consider four.applications for this type of accommodation. The applications were duly considered on their merits. It was proposed by Mr Summerbell and seconded by Mr. Reynolds that the Mrs D.P.J.Greenwood be recommended as house be offered to a suitable tenant and that same be offered to her. carried unanimously. It was further proposed by Mr. Squibb seconded by Mr. Deacon that in the event of Mrs Greenwood refusing the offer the house should be offered to Mr. E.E.Humber. carried unam. Mr. G.E.D.     Finlay. Minutes The minutes of the last meeting were read approved and signed by the Chairman. Arising therefrom The Chairman reported that Mrs D.T.J. Greenwood had accepted No 24 Station Gardens and had taken up the accommodation. It was also reported that Mrs Coram had stated that she would still desire to be considered but she would like the south side of Station Gardens and on this question Mr Deacon proposed and Mr Summerbell seconded that Mrs Coram’s name remain on the Housing List. carried unanimously Applications Mr. W.G.Wales It was proposed by Mr Squibb. seconded by Mr Reynolds that this application be refused carried Mr Deacon abstained and took no part in the discussion or voting. Minutes The minutes of the last meeting were read confirmed and signed by the Chairman No 14 No 14 Station Gardens would become vacant at the end of Station the present month and the Committee duly considered Gardens the applications submitted by the Housing Manager to the Rural District Council. Mr Deacon proposed Mrs Finlay seconded that the tenancy be offered to Mr. R.D.J.Heatley….. Mr Summerbell proposed Mr Newman seconded that the tenancy be offered to Mr. L. Widdowson. on a show of hands the proposal in favour of Mr Heatley….. was carried by 3 votes to 2. Untidy It had been noted that recently some of the gardens had become very Gardens untidy and in particular No 5 Station Gardens on being handed over recently to a new tenant was seen to be overgrown with grass. It was agreed that the Housing Committee’s attention be called to these matters and request that the attention of the offending tenants should be called to the conditions of tenancy in regard thereto.   • BTT 1028 Minute Book - Brading Parochial Committee Page 9 9th August Minutes of meeting of the Brading Parochial Committee 1962 held at the Old Town Hall Brading on Thursday 9th August 1962 Present Mr. F.J.Simmonds in the Chair Mrs. A.M Finlay and Messrs Arnold Summerbell Newman Deacon Squibb Mr Tribe Housing Manager Isle of Wight Rural District Council was also in attendance. Minutes The minutes of the last meeting were read confirmed and signed by the Chairman. The Chairman then outlined the purpose of the meeting which was to allocate some new houses flats and bungalows consequent upon the re housing of some of the Council tenants who were either under or over occupied in their present accommodation and upon the allocation of the new bungalows in Lower Furlongs. Mr Tribe then explained at great length and detail how it was proposed to offer the new bungalows and which of the tenants were to be offered other accommodation. Mr Tribe produced a schedule of transfers of existing tenants and transfers to other accommodation which when put into effect would leave the following units to be allocated by the Committee 3 2 bedroom Bungalows - Lower Furlongs 2 2 bedroom First Floor Flat - Station Road 2 2 bedroom Houses Station Gardens 3 3 bedroom Houses 4 and 5 West Street and 12 Station Road Mr Arnold proposed Mr. Deacon seconded that Downer be offered 3 bedroom house on West Street provided he took Mr. J Harbour. carried. Mr Summerbell proposed Mr Arnold seconded that this meeting record a hearty vote of thanks to Mr Tribe for his great assistance and lucid manner in which Mr Tribe had explained the whole situation.     Mr. B. Squibb brought to the notice of the meeting the state of disrepair of the fences and untidy state of the gardens of two of the houses on Broadstone Crescent which front on to the main road at the bus stop. The Secretary was instructed to write to the Housing Manager voicing the disapproval of the Committee in that it created a poor impression of the first Housing Estate estate seen in the Island by visitors approaching Brading from Ryde.
