BRIDGES 3

For the past 80 years, COWI has pushed the boundaries of bridge design. In thattime, we have designed more than 3,000 bridges worldwide – including some ofthe world’s longest suspension and cable-stayed bridges.

Today, we are a world leader in bridge engineering. It is a position we haveachieved by diligently pushing the development of new technologies to stretch thelimits of what is possible.

We are driven by innovation and by our ambition to work closely with our clientsto deliver world-class bridges together. Our services cover the entire life cycleof a bridge, from the initial ideas to the operation phase, decommissioning orrehabilitation.

With a full set of world-class competencies within bridge engineering, we are readyto take on the most complex projects anywhere in the world – no matter how largeor small.

Together, we will take you there.

CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING

The right selection and combination ofconstruction methods is of crucial importanceto any bridge. We handle erection schemes, logistics, temporary structures as well as the

erection engineering itself.OPERATION AND MANAGEMENT

Our asset management is based on worldwidepractical experience with planning, budgetingand handling of short and long-term operation, maintenance and rehabilitation works, as wellas implementation of management concepts.

SITE SUPERVISION

We handle all disciplines relating topreconstruction and construction, projectcompletion and subsequent defects liabilyphase. And we deliver full documentation of thequality of the project.

RE-EVALUATION AND REHABILITATION

We cover all phases and every step of theinspections to ensure that technical evaluations

are coherent – from visual inspections tospecial studies of load capacity and safety ofstructures. We design rehabilitations at existing structurefor increased capacity and for replacement ofkey structural elements.

DECOMMISSIONING

To facilitate the choice between removaloptions, we carry out quantitative comparative

risk assessments of the various options andwe take damaged structures, personnel andenvironmental risks into account.

CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT

We handle the contract, monitor the progressof the project in all details as well as costcontrol and take care of risk management. Wealso handle stakeholders and authorities andperform technical follow-up.
