    Assessment

All units are assessed by completion of coursework and are graded as a pass, merit or distinction. Successful completion of year 1 leads to the award of the BTEC Level 3 certificate, a qualification broadly equivalent to one AS level.

    Further Information

There are no additional costs involved with the subject. All students are provided with hand-outs and there is internet access to a subscription site which deals with all aspects of the syllabus and gives up-to-date legal information. There will be trips organised to courts to witness the law in action and students will be able to attend a taster day session at Essex University.

    Progression

To progress to Diploma level in the second year you will need to pass the Certificate in Applied Law. The Diploma in Applied Law will concentrate on homicide, property offences, police powers and employment law. This will lead to a Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Applied Law, which is broadly equivalent to an A-level.
