COURSE OUTLINE
This course is designed to meet the needs of students wishing to pursue a career in Public and Emergency Services – for example: the Police, Fire Service, Prison Service, Armed Forces, Customs and Excise, Emergency Planning and Security Services. You will develop a firm understanding about major incidents, human psychology and sociology and social diversity through a series of core and specialised modules including: Serious and Organised Crime, and International Institutions and Global Affairs.
The Pearson BTEC Level 4 & 5 HNC/D in Public Services provides a specialist, work-related programme of study that covers the key knowledge, understanding and practical skills required in the Public Services sector and also offers particular emphasis through the choice of specialist units tailored in year 2 to your chosen careers pathway.
A key progression path for BTEC HNC and HND learners is to the second or third year of a degree or honours degree programme, depending on the match of the BTEC Higher National units to the degree programme in question, or into formal public services employment.
