Entries received after the closing date and prior to the Show will be
accepted subject to an additional £6 per entry providing the classes are not
over subscribed. Entries will not be accepted AFTER Monday April 15th at
10.00 am.
STABLING
Loose Boxes are available and may be booked for the duration of the show at
£88.00 per stable, including VAT. Only shavings are permitted
A limited number of Barn Type Stables (indoors) in the sponsor’s area are
available @ £110.00 per stable including VAT.
Other sponsors stables will be available in the Gold Area @ £98.00 per stable
including VAT. SPONSORS STABLES WILL ONLY BE AVAILABLE TO SPONSORS.
PONIES MUST NOT BE LEFT OVERNIGHT IN HORSEBOXES OR TRAILERS.
CORRALS ARE NOT PERMITTED ONLY HORSES & PONIES COMPETING AT
THE SHOW ARE ALLOWED ON THE SHOWGROUND.
EQUINE PASSPORTS/INFLUENZA VACCATION CERTIFICATES
Exhibitors are required to have Passports for all horses/ponies when competing at the show and up to
date Equine Inoculations Certificates for each of their exhibits. Any exhibitors found without a
passport or valid certificate for all their animals will be asked to leave the showground.
FODDER BEDDING WILL NOT BE PROVIDED BUT WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE
PRIOR TO THE SHOW AND LIMITED SUPPLIES AVAILABLE AT THE SHOW
NO ENTRY FEES WILL BE REFUNDED.
NO REFUNDS ON STABLES CANCELLED AFTER CLOSING DATE OF

ELIGIBILITY
OVERSEAS VISITORS:- The Show Committee reserve the right to allow
overseas visitors to compete in all classes by invitation
ANIMALS ENTERED IN CLASSES:- 4-5, 8-15, 39-44, 53,54-61, 76-79,
86-97, 106-115, 128-129 must have qualified at one of the qualifiers for the
2019 BSPS Winter Championships Show. Ponies must be registered, owned and
ridden by BSPS Members.
CLASSES:- 130 to 133 are open to registered Anglo and Part Bred Arabs. All
Part Breds must contain the minimum of 12.1/2% Arab blood.
Owners must be BSPS Adult Showing Member. Riders must be BSPS Adult
Showing or Junior Members
CLASSES:- 146 to 149 are open to animals registered, owned and ridden by
CHAPS (UK) Members.
CLASSES:- 154 to 156 – Animals must be registered Purebred Arabs with the
Arab Horse Society, owners and riders must be members of the Arab Horse
Society

ALL OTHER CLASSES are open to animals, owned registered and ridden by
BSPS members.
RESTRICTED & NOVICE RULES As the current BSPS Rule and Show Hand
Book.
ROSETTES & SASHES Finalist rosettes will be awarded to all competitors in the Winter qualifying classes.
Special Rosettes will be awarded to all competitors in the Leading Rein, First Ridden,
Tiny Tots and Cradle Stakes Classes. Rosettes will be awarded to 8th place in all
classes.
Sashes will be awarded to the Champions and Reserve Champions and to winners of
the Cradle Stakes, Nursery Stakes, Lead Rein Hunter Type, 1st Pony of SP or SHT,
Lead Rein and First Ridden classes.
AWARDS FOR COMBINED CLASSES
PRESENTATION OF DRESSAGE AND COMBINED AWARDS.
A notice regarding the presentations of awards will be posted at the Dressage
Arena.
THE WSP SECTION Prizes will be presented in the normal way at the end of
each section.

QUALIFICATIONS
HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW 2019 142 to 145 and 154 to 156 are qualifiers for the 2019 Horse of the Year Show.
ROYAL INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW This Show is a qualifier for the 2019 Royal International Horse Show. Animals in
each of the following classes will qualify:- 6, 7, 16-23, 30-33, 36-37, 45-50, 51-52,
62-75, 80-85, 98-105, 116-127, 130-133, 150-153
THE BSPS “BLUE RIBAND PONY OF THE YEAR” This Show is a qualifier for the 2019 BSPS Blue Riband Pony of the Year.
The Desert Orchid Blue Riband WHP/WH of the Year
The 1st and 2nd in classes 16-23 and will qualify.
The Blue Riband Lead Rein & First Ridden Pony of the Year. 1st and 2nd in
Classes 30-33 will qualify.
The Legend Blue Riband Show Pony of the Year. 1st and 2nd in Classes 45-50 will
qualify.
The John Peel Blue Riband Show Hunter Pony of the Year. 1st and 2nd in Classes
62-69 will qualify.
The Blue Riband Intermediate SRT and SH of the Year. 1st and 2nd in Classes 80-
85 will qualify.
THE BSPS “CLASSIC SECURITY (UK) LIMITED” CHALLENGE This show is a qualifier for the 2019 BSPS CHALLENGE. Animals must not have
qualified for the 2019 Horse of the Year Show in the appropriate class.
BSPS PREMIER LEAGUE This show is a qualifier for the 2019 BSPS PREMIER LEAGUE.
BSPS “BLACK COUNTRY SADDLES” RIDER OF THE YEAR. The Best Rider in classes 2-3, 6-7, 16-23, 28-33, 36-37, 45-50, 62-69, 80-85, 98-101
116-125. will qualify for the final at the BSPS Summer Championships Show and the
Best Rider in the Heritage classes who have not attained their 25th birthday before 1st
January in the current year.
BSPS CHAMPIONSHIPS SHOW This Show is a qualifier for the 2019 BSPS 50th Golden Anniversary Championships
Show, to be held at Arena UK, Allington, Grantham, Lincolnshire. The first and

TIME TABLE The Timetable is approximate; classes may be called early. It is the exhibitor’s responsibility to
be available for classes.
JUDGING OF WHP CLASSES
In some WHP Classes one judge will judge jumping, style and manners whilst jumping and Phase II
manners. The other judge will judge type, conformation and freedom of action.
Ponies will do their individual show in the same ring immediately following their jumping round then
remove any boots and go to the second judge for conformation.

pony suitable for a child to begin their future in Working Sports
Pony Classes.
METHOD OF JUDGING
Ponies will enter the ring at the walk, they may be trotted altogether at the Judges’ discretion.
They will be pulled into line and asked to perform an individual test around obstacles including
jumping a maximum of three small upright fences not exceeding 30cms. No spread fences. Water
will not be included.
Ponies will not be asked to walk on artificial material e.g. plastic sheeting during the test.
The Leader must be 16 years old or over and may only lead one pony in a class.
The rein MUST go directly from the bit to the rider’s hand, with no extra aids or attachments to or on
the saddle.
Handles on saddles are permitted but the reins must not be attached to the handle or to the saddle.
The Lead Rein must be affixed to the noseband on which it must remain while the pony is in the ring.
Whilst in the ring ponies must be led by the leader at all times.
The Leader should lead on the near side with the lead rein in the left hand.

Riders may ride more than one pony in the Novice Gold Cup Classes Only (They may ride a pony in a
Novice class and a different pony in an open class). No pony may compete in more than one class.
SECTION C will be a jumping course. Joker fence to be added for Open NOT novice.
Anyone eliminated in S/J will not come forward for overall rosette.
WSP – scores lower than 20 regardless of combined placing will not go forward to show jumping.
This Phase will be open to the competitors gaining the highest amalgamated scores from Sections A
and B.
All faults will be deducted from the total score carried forward from Sections A and B

HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW RIDDEN COLOURED
HORSE AND PONY QUALIFIERS
These classes are qualifying classes for Horse of the Year Show, NEC,
Birmingham, 2nd – 6th October 2019. Qualification will not pass below 5th Place.
Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show Office. This
competition is open to mares, gelding and CHAPS (UK) graded Stallions, four years
old or over, to be registered in and complying with the showing requirements of, the
main body of the stud books of the Coloured Horse and Pony Society CHAPs (UK)
or the Traditional Gypsy Cob Association (TGCA). All Stallions MUST
wear Stallion ID Discs in the ring without exception in order to compete. All
Riders and Owners must be members of the Coloured Horse and Pony Society, The
Showing Register or the Traditional Gypsy Cob Association. For height restricted
exhibits a valid JMB number must be lodged with the respective society. These
classes will be run in accordance with the general rules as set out in the Horse of
the Year Show Rule book, a copy of which can be downloaded from
www.hoys.co.uk and competitors must make themselves conversant with these
rules.
This is a Horse of the Year Show Qualifier, all data given upon entry of this class is
provided to Grandstand Media Limited and stored on the Grandstand Entries System.

MOUNTAIN AND MOORLAND RIDDEN CHAMPIONSHIP 2019
Owners must be Adult/Life Members. Riders must be current P (UK)
Adult/Senior/Junior Riders Club Members and the ponies currently be
registered with P (UK) before time of entry in order to compete in these classes.
The highest placed exhibit not already qualified from the first five will receive
notification of the qualification for the RIHS Young Riders M&M Ridden at the
RIHS Hickstead 2019.
Class 150 RIHS Qualifier Young Riders M & M Small Breeds – Mare or
Gelding, 4 years old and over registered in their approved Pure
Breed Society stud books of the Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland,

Classes 154 to 156 will be judged in accordance with the Horse of the Year Show Rules, a
copy of which can be found at www.hoys.co.uk.
Qualification will not pass below 6th place. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the
Year Show office.
This is a Horse of the Year Show Qualifier, all data given upon entry of this class is provided

Animals must be registered Purebred Arabs with the Arab Horse Society
Owners must be members of the Arab Horse Society and the horse registered in the owner’s
name. The exhibitor must have purchased an AHS Q card displaying
the name of the horse.
The qualifying horse will be the highest placed, previously unqualified, exhibit within the
Championship of the mare, stallion and gelding sections. If a rider has qualified more than
one horse, that rider will be allowed to exchange horses and ride each horse for its individual
display. A groom is allowed into the ring to hold the horse whilst it is not being ridden.
PUREBRED ARAB CHAMPIONSHIP
To be competed for by 1st and 2nd Prize winners from classes 154 - 156
The Champion will qualify for the Horse of the Year Show,
if the champion has already qualified the Reserve will qualify,
qualification will not pass below 6th place.
The qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY AND RULES
1. Classes 134-141 will be Judged in accordance with the BSPS
Combined and Gold Cup Rule Book.
2. Classes 142 – 145 & 154 - 156 will be judged in accordance with Horse
of the Year Show Rules.
3. Classes 146-149 will be judged in accordance with CHAPS Rules.
4. Classes 150 – 153 will be judged in accordance with P (UK) Rules.
5. All other classes will be judged in accordance with BSPS Rules
rules.
6. Only tack or spurs that is permissible in the ring in BSPS classes is
allowed on the showground while mounted.
7. Animals must be registered with the BSPS for 2019. Owners and Riders
must be current members of the BSPS to compete in all classes except in
classes 142 – 156.
8. The Committee does not accept responsibility for any loss, damage or
injury to any person, animal or property at the Show. Exhibitors are
warned that property has been lost at Shows and are therefore advised to
take every precaution and not leave property unattended.
9. The Committee reserve the right to alter the times of the classes or the
Judges if necessary.
10. Mounted exhibitors must adhere to horse walkways and riding areas.
11. OBJECTIONS must be made in writing with the objector's full name and
address within 60 minutes of the completion of judging and must be
lodged at the Secretary's Office together with the sum of £50 deposit.
This sum will be returned if the objection is sustained, but if the objection
is not sustained the deposit will be forfeited to the funds of the Winter
Championships.
The Objection Committee will consist of:- The Chairman, Vice
Chairman, Show Director, Executive Officer, Health and Safety Officer
or any other official if applicable.
Any objection against a JMB Certificate must be lodged in
accordance with the current JMB Rules.
Any objection against the judging of a class or championship must be
referred to the BSPS in accordance with the Rules in the 2019 BSPS Rule
and Show Hand Book.
12. Any pony taking part will be liable to Dope Testing.
13. No marks will be displayed until after the presentation of awards.
14. It is strongly recommended that all exhibitors carry Public Liability
Insurance for an adequate indemnity to protect against their negligence.

15. WARNING!! Children, Motorcycles or Bicycles. Children MUST
NOT be allowed to play on the bales of straw. NO Motorcycles or
bicycles will be allowed to be ridden around the Showground or
stable area at any time. Bicycles or motorcycles may be impounded for
the duration of the Show.
16. STABLING Please fill in your stabling form correctly, this will assist
the Office and Stable Manager. Stabling will be available from Thursday
18th April 2019. Boxes cannot be booked for exhibitors to sleep in. NO
cooking or smoking permitted in the stable areas. Stables in different
names cannot be allocated next to each other unless booked together at
the same time.
17. Dress for Evening Performance. Riders must wear blue or black
coats with hunting ties, (stocks), correct riding hats and leather or
string gloves.
No buttonholes or earrings allowed.
18. SPURS are not permitted including the use of Spurs in collecting rings,
except for competitors 16 years and over competing in the Exceeding
148cm Anglo and Part Bred Arab class.
19. HATS All competitors must wear hats in accordance with BSPS
rules.
20. All entries and stabling fees MUST be paid in full when entries are
made. NO entries will be accepted by telephone.
Incorrect entries will be refused. ANY CHEQUE that is not honoured by
the Bank will be returned to the exhibitor with their entries, and these
WILL NOT be accepted.
A £10 surcharge will be charged for stables cancelled prior to the
closing date of entries.
NO entry fee will be refunded NO REFUNDS on stables cancelled
after the closing date of entries.
21. LATE QUALIFICATION
The last weekend for qualifying is 13th/14th April and entries for ponies
that qualify on those dates MUST be sent by email no later than Monday
15th April 2019 at 10 am.
NO ENTRIES ARE ACCEPTED AFTER THIS DATE.
22. WELFARE POLICY
The Society will enforce their Welfare Policy at this show.
WARNING in the interest of other exhibitors, please refrain from playing
loud or amplified music or making excessive noise on the showground after
11 pm

OR DISCIPLINARY ACTION MAY BE TAKEN.

WRITTEN FROM SHOW OFFICIALS WHICH PERTAIN TO THESE
REGULATIONS IN THEIR OWN BEST INTERESTS. DETAILED GUIDE
LINES CAN BE SEEN AT THE SECRETARY'S OFFICE AND /OR ON
NOTICES AROUND THE SHOW GROUND. ANY ACCIDENT SHOULD
BE REPORTED TO A SHOW OFFICIAL IMMEDIATELY.
REGULATIONS WITH REGARD TO THE RIDING OR DRIVING OF
HORSES AND PONIES, MOTORISED VEHICLES AND BICYCLES WILL
BE STRICTLY ENFORCED IN THE INTEREST OF ALL CONCERNED.
22. CANCELLATION The BSPS shall be entitled to cancel the Winter Championships Show.
1) upon the serving of notice to the entrant of such cancellation, not less than 48
hours prior to the Winter Championships Show: or
2) an Event of Force Majeure occurs
For the purpose of this clause, “Event of Force Majeure” means an act of God including but
not limited to fire, flood, earthquake, windstorm or other natural disaster, act of any sovereign
including but not limited to war, invasion, act of foreign enemies, hostilities (whether war be
declared or not) civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, military or usurped power or
confiscation, nationalisation, requisition, destruction or damage to property by or under the
order of any government or public or local authority or imposition of government sanction
embargo or similar action; law, judgement, order, decree, embargo, blockade, labour dispute
including but not limited to strike, lockout or boycott; interruption or failure of utility service
including but not limited to electric power, gas, water or telephone service; failure of the
transportation of any personnel equipment, machinery supply or material required by BSPS
for the provision of show services breach of contract by any essential personnel; any other
matter or cause beyond the control of BSPS.
Upon the cancellation of the Winter Championships Show, BSPS shall return all Winter
Championship Show entry fees to the entrants, however in certain circumstances the Society
reserve the right to retain a fair percentage of the fees when the Society has incurred
expenses.
BSPS shall not be liable to the show entrants in contract, tort, negligence, breach of statutory
duty or otherwise for any loss, damage, costs or expenses of any nature whatsoever incurred
or suffered by the show entrants of an indirect or consequential nature including without
limitation any economic loss or other loss of turnover, profits, business or goodwill.
Any notice served in accordance with this clause shall be in writing and shall be deemed to
have been duly given if left at or sent by post or telex or facsimile to the entrant at the address
or relevant telecommunications number for such entrant or such other address as the entrant
may from time to time designate.
