COMPUTER CENTER

One of the strengths of the College of BusinessManagement program is the incorporation of

Information Technology as a key component of thecurriculum. Programs offered by the Institute requirestudents to obtain hands-on experience onmicrocomputers and develop a high level of expertisein this field. These equips the students with all thecomputer-related knowledge required by businessmanagers. The Institute has developed an InformationSystems Department (ISD), which providesadministrative, networking and technical support tofaculty and students. One of the ISD Divisions includesthe Computer Center which has a number of AST, IBMand other branded workstations. It also has e-mail andinternet facilities for all students. The Computer Centeris one of the most well-equipped and advancedinformation technology centers in Karachi.

LIBRARY

Institutes four-storey library building includes a varietyof books, journals, periodicals and reference materials.It is particularly developed to cater to the needs of stu-dents and faculty. Latest editions of textbooks areavailable to students to use as reference material.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITES

Student societies, e.g., Marketing, Finance, MIS, PublicSpeaking, etc., actively participate in organizingseminars and workshops. An executive lectureprogram, organized jointly by students and faculty,provides opportunities for exchange of ideas andopinions with leaders in business and government.

STUDENT ACTIVITY CENTER

This fully-air-conditioned purpose-built center has anumber of excellent facilities for students. It has suchdining facilities where lunch and snacks can beenjoyed in a relaxing and informal atmosphere. It is aplace where students get an opportunity to interact notonly with their colleagues but also with the faculty onan informal basis. INTERNSHIP

Institute of Business Management offers a variety ofservices, which assist students in making careerdecisions. An internship, of a minimum of six weeks ina reputable firm, is compulsory for all graduating BBAand MBA students. The purpose is to give studentsexposure to an actual business situation before theyembark on a career.

COUNSELLING SERVICE

It helps students define and select career alternatives.Guidance is provided on skills and strategies essentialfor effective job search. These skills and strategiesinclude letter-writing, resume development, andinterview techniques.

WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS

They include job-search strategies, interview practicein videotape sessions and career goal refinementthrough self-assessment and decision-making

exercises.

FOREIGN LANGUAGES

IoBM also offers one year of foreign language coursesin Arabic, Chinese, French, Italian, Japanese, Russianand Spanish. Students may opt for a foreign languageas a certificate course.
