The design approach that w as arrived at w as one of rem em brance as w ell as activism . The design em com passedelem ents from the com m unities past w hich are infused in to the site. I proposed that the design have a cem etery as one a m etaphor for the decrepit neighborhood as a w hole and tw o asa place for longtim e m em bers of this com m unity to claim their final rest. The design also called for spaces for non governm ent organizations in the neighborhood to com m une and stragetize for the betterm ent ofSw eet A uburn. The design finally called for greenspace for com m unity m em bers to gather for recreational or activist purposes. The site is charged w ith activist notions due to m lk’sadjacency. adjacency.

The V irginia H ighlands neighborhood is a prom inate neighborhood in A tlanta, G eorgiaThe residents of this com m unity are m iddle class w hom are cultured and artistic and are seeking to have a library to com plim ent their neighborhood. The neighborhood is a place w herealot of trendy shops and restaurants serve the alot of trendy shops and restaurants serve the neighborhood.

The design approach of this project w as the notion of thirsting for know ledge. I E xpressed this notion by creating a apature w ith sliding planes w ith item s interm itted in the m odel to encourage youto m anipulate the planes to look further into the m odel. Thus increasing your into the m odel. Thus increasing your curiosity and “thirst” for w hat lies ahead.The apature m odel w as expressed later volum etricly then architecturally.

The M arietta Square is the center ofM arietta, G a. O n the square there is a local Theatre w here plays are held.The design challenge w as to design a theatre to becom e the replacem ent forthe old theatre.

The D esign A pproach I chose for this project w as scene transition. The process of m oving props and backgrounds on and off the stage. I represented this by shifting vol-um es along a datum on the site.
