Tech Talk with Lila On Saturday, August 19 from 9:00-10:30 am we will be discussing Passwords. Do you know where all your passwords are? Do you know WHAT they

are? Do you use the SAME password on some sites? Or the SAME password on all sites? Trying to remember passwords is a pain in the …. well, it’s a pain somewhere in the anatomy. In this meeting I’ll explain what password managers are, discuss various options to choose from (including both free and paid choices), and demonstrate one (or more) live so you can see how a password manager can help make life simpler AND more secure. Remember, there really IS someone out there trying to get your password! Don’t make it easy for them! See you then!

Movie of the Month Big Eyes is a 2014 American biographical film starring Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz. The movie is about the life of

American artist Margaret Keane-famous for drawing portraits and paintings with big eyes (which many of us probably remember). The film follows the story of Margaret and her second husband Walter Keane who, for years, took all the credit for Margaret's phenomenally successful and popular paintings in the 1950s and 1960s. Why not join us on Sunday, August 27 at 6:00 pm and learn why Margaret allowed her husband to take such credit for so long, what prompts her to say, at last, that she is the artist behind these works of art, and find out how she finally proves this to the world in a court of law.

August Ladies Luncheon Our August Ladies Luncheon will be on Tuesday, August 29 at

12:30 pm. Our featured speaker will be Lu Ann Ely-Rudolph, a professional speaker on proper dining etiquette. Many of you will remember her humorous and informative program from several years ago. Our menu will be your choice of sandwiches of roast beef, turkey or ham and a chicken salad croissant (sandwich trays will be served at the table), Caesar salad, fruit and dessert. The cost is $12.00 and the sign-up deadline is Monday, August 14. Please join us for a very special luncheon!

Grounds Committee Report Our message for the month is IRRIGATE, The month to date precipitation as of July 13, 2017 is down 10% this year. To keep your lawn healthy, it needs water. WATERING IS YOUR responsibility. Those of you with sprinkler systems, please adjust your system for the hot, dry weather. Those of you without systems, please get your hoses out and use them regularly. Over the past 2 years, rain (or lack of rain) impacts mowing/pruning plans. We continue to respect the BrightView’s team decision to mow or not to mow. They are the experts. Heritage Pines soil/drainage issues are varied and well known to the landscape staff. MOWING is handled in an efficient manner: front, back, blowing, edging. One mower does fronts, another does sides and rear. They usually are moving through your yard at different times. The onsite supervisor oversees this routine. The Town of Cary requires all individual home-owners with irrigation systems to have rain gauges/sensors in good working order. Overwa-tering isn’t any better for lawns than underwater-ing, but certainly more expensive. Please check your systems periodically. Sprinklers running during the day after a major storm indicate a problem. All systems have a shut off option. Lo-cate it and use it when a large storm is predict-ed. WEEDS have enjoyed the spring rains. Not all weeds are covered in our contract, therefore it’s your responsibility to manage. CREPE Myrtles are in full bloom and stretching upward each year. CONSIDER the 12 FEET or less guideline. You may need to call in a tree company. After a rain, the flowering branches hang much lower. When the trees dry out, the limbs again reach higher and come off the roofs and eaves. If you call the office regarding low branches, bear ALL these things in mind. Finally, we re-mind you again to help maintain your lawn and the community’s appearance by keeping your lawn watered so it’ll be green and lush. WATERING IS IMPERATIVE THIS TIME OF YEAR. We are spending a great deal of money to improve the health of your grass, but you have the responsibility to make sure it has enough water to stay healthy.

Heritage Pines Rules & Regulations
