Browning Pond, Oakham General Information Browning Pond is 112 acre great pond located off of Browning Pond Rd. in Oakham. Browning Pond has an average depth of 15 feet and a maximum depth of 46 feet. The pond bottom is predominately hard and aquatic vegetation is only abundant in the shallow northern end. A few private homes lie on the southeast shore while a summer camp owns the rest of the shoreline leaving it mostly undeveloped. Recreational Access A car top access and parking area for three cars is located on Browning Pond Rd (71°59'54.80” W 42°18'29.20"N). The shoreline is only accessible along Browning Pond Road adjacent to the access. Please contact MassWildlife for additional information and/or restrictions pertaining to public access of Browning Pond. Fishing The following fish species were found during MassWildlife surveys: Largemouth Bass, Yellow Perch, Bluegill, Chain Pickerel, Black Crappie, Banded Killifish, and Golden Shiner. Browning Pond has produced Largemouth Bass, Chain Pickerel, and Sunfish that meet minimum size for recognition by the Sportfishing Awards Program.
