Help us Pack the Pantry

SPECIAL BLESSINGSDear Friend and Valued Supporter,

During the Fall months, our three Centers in Hollywood, Pompano Beach and Miami will serve over 220,000 meals to the homeless, needy, and hungry of our communities. For so many, that meal is the first step in transforming their life. We have seen during 90+ years of serving those in the greatest of need, that HOPE really does begin with a meal. It is only with your continued support that we’re able to do all that we do for the homeless and needy. Your generosity not only provides meals and safe shelter, but also life-changing programs for men, women, and children. We want to see peoople move from tragedy to triumph and become successful in life. Your compassion helps thousands in need. Please send your gift today and help us reach our vision that “No One is Homeless”.

Our supporters are the greatest people in the world!

Special Blessings to You and Your loved ones this Thanksgiving.

Rev. Ronald BrummittPresident

We are continuing to Pack the Pantry this Fall in order to help provide meals for those in need. Last year, we provided over 950,000 meals to individuals who were hungry and homeless. In order to serve these meals to so many people, we rely on our supporters, donors, and volun-teers. Our supporters understand that a change in a person’s life can begin simply with a meal in a com-munity of supporting and caring people. We have special brown paper bags and/or boxes to give to individuals and groups that want to help Pack the Pantry.

Road to Independence

After living in Tennessee for a while, Lorenzo moved to Texas. A ministry in Austin brought him to Fort Lau-derdale where they left him after he had been in the hospital for a few days due to heat exhaustion. Lorenzo found himself alone with no home, no contacts, and no money. “In that moment I just prayed to Jesus and said I will pick up my cross and fol-low You, wherever it leads.”

He could not find a job so he began living in a night club that was being renovated. When he could stay there no longer, Lorenzo got involved with a man who offered to help him out, but constantly threatened him and accused him of stealing. The man’s girlfriend started developing feelings for him, so to avoid conflict, Lorenzo left and enrolled himself into one of our life-changing programs.

At the end of the day, I can say, good

job today [to myself], and that is the most

important thing.

Lorenzo’s life really has gotten back on track. Since he has been with the Center, Lorenzo has gotten back important documents that were lost, he knows and is working on his credit score, and he has taken care of previous college debts, which is allowing him to go back to college again. Lorenzo is enrolling in college for the 2015 Spring semester where he wants to focus on either banking

or marketing and communications. He has found a new direction for his life and is eagerly pursuing his goals.

“I am learning to really understand Lorenzo now….The whole thing is that I want to be interdependent. I want to be self-dependent which brings about independence which brings about interdependence.”

Lorenzo’s difficult journey led him to our programs where he discovered his goals and the Lord.

“ This experience is something that will stick with me for a lifetime. This celebration is something I am very thankful for.

— Yolanda, former resident, who attended the 2013 Thanksgiving Banquet in Pompano Beach
