We believe the College should be a safe place to work and study that promotes and
rewards achievement, and encourages mutual respect between staff, students and
customers.
This strategy is based around three key strategic themes that outline how the College will
continue to be an exciting and rewarding place to study, work and visit.
Key Strategies

Further improve the quality of the College’s curriculum from ‘good’ to ‘good with
outstanding elements’.
Further develop high quality teaching resources that promote a good student
experience.

further study.
Continue to maximise opportunities for students to further develop their literacy and
numeracy skills.

INNOVATION AND DEVELOPMENT
Grow the College income and diversify income streams to reduce the dependence
on any single source of funding.
Continue to realign the College curriculum offer by consolidating existing provision
and developing new provision around our specialist areas.
Provide support and facilities that allow students with additional needs to access
specialist vocational courses and develop their employability skills.
Further develop relationships with employers, key stakeholders and partners.
Continue to increase the number of students living at College and further develop
support mechanisms that enable students to overcome barriers to attending and
achieving.
Brooksby Melton College will achieve these aims by:
Increasing 16-18 student numbers by growth in the numbers studying advanced level
programmes and sports academy models.
Increasing the number of HE students studying in its specialist areas.
Increasing the number of Apprenticeships through incremental growth in our
specialist areas.
Maintaining the very high level of student achievement within that of the top 10%
performing colleges.

Having a financial operating model which maintains the financial sustainability of the
College.
Becoming the ’Employer of choice’ in the FE sector within the region.
Maximising the use of College assets to generate additional commercial income to
reinvest in maintaining the recently improved facilities of the College and reduces
dependence of Government grants to a maximum of 67% of total income.
Implementing a programme of self-financed works relating to Melton Theatre,
Brooksby Hall and improvements to teaching facilities for Agriculture.
Developing and implementing a further self-financed programme of capital works to

This strategy is further refined in a series of strategic aims which form the basis of the
