grade

students at: Brookland Educational Campus,

Burroughs, Langdon, Noyes at lunchtime

meetings .

• Students voted to rank the options in order of

preference



PUBLIC ART

• 97 Entries from 52 artists. 21 selected as semi-finalists

• Semi finalists announced for each area

• Entry Plaza (Community) - 8 semi finalists

• Atrium – likely hanging (Diversity) – 4 semi-finalists

• Outdoor Classroom (Sustainability) – 6 semi finalists

• Michigan Ave (Brookland) – 4 semi finalists

• Main Lobby (Performing Arts) – 6 semi finalists

• Semi-finalists toured the school in early May and proposals have

been submitted.

CBE AND WORKFORCE

• Local Business Participation (CBE)

• $22.4 out of $37.5M (60% ) of construction subcontracts have

been awarded to District CBE firms

• 16 CBE firms currently working on project

• 7 of those firms are located in Ward 5

• Local Workforce Utilization

• Approximately 40% of all workers to date DC residents

• 10 workers hired from jobsite walk-ups!!



DCPS UPDATE

• Academic Planning Team and Office of Teaching and

Learning ramping up educational planning.

• Outreach to students and families to begin Fall 2014.

• School Improvement Team (SIT) to be expanded to

include staff and parents from four feeder schools

• Brookland @ Bunker Hill EC

• Burroughs EC

• Langdon EC

• Noyes EC



NEXT STEPS

• The next “Community Meeting” will be held in September

with a focus on Academics. Place and time TBD.

• The “Envelope Group” will meet again in September.

• Jobsite tours for SIT, envelope group, and community.
