prove or learn
Celebrate all of our special and unique qualities
Make every effort to build, nurture and encour-
age self-esteem in others

Student Feedback
I learnt lots of friendship tips like to use ‘I’ more than ‘you’ when working things out with a friend, if
I’m mad I should take time and give them time, to not text to solve problems and to be confident.
Fran is great. The Princess Diary activity was so fun. Be good, be nice, be kind. Beth You are amaz-
ing! I learnt that I am cool and amazing and I love Fran!
My favourite was when I read the comments from my friends because it made my heart explode
with happiness. I learnt that the pics you see on social media aren’t real and to be calm when ap-
proaching and dealing with friendship problems. Fran is so nice and funny!

Message from the Principal
Dear All, On Monday 17th of February, I attended the first P&C
meeting for 2020, which included the AGM. It was
wonderful to see so many parents in attendance and
I’m looking forward to another great year of collabo-
ration and celebration. Congratulations and thank you
to our 2020 P&C members. Katie Jagger is looking for
volunteers to join her in organising events. PLEASE
send your availability to the P&C if you can help Katie.
Thank you to parents, Genevieve Bassin and Kim
O’Grady for volunteering to open the the second hand
uniform shop on a Friday morning once a fortnight
8:30-9:30am. Thanks also to Alex and Candice for
their support in the interim.
If your child needs speech therapy or support from an
occupational therapist please discuss this with your
child’s teacher. Tutoring should only occur outside
school hours. Tutoring is additional instruction linked
to the NSW curriculum.
Our current canteen operator “Love Food” finish up at
the end of this term. Many thanks to Angelika for all
her work supporting the Bronte School community
over the past five years.
Two very experienced teachers are offering their
time on Wednesday 8th of March to share some tips
on how to support your child with reading at home.
This session will commence at 6:00 pm in the library.
See you there!
Finally this week, just a reminder that unless your
child/children attend before school care (BAC), or
have a music lesson or sports training, they should not
be at school before 8:30am or after 3:10pm. Thank
you!
Warm Regards, Catherine Ryan Principal

Dear Bronte Parents and Caregivers
Invoicing will start this week. This letter explains the voluntary component.
Each year we encourage parents to actively support programs and initiatives that enrich student learning at Bronte. This support occurs through P&C, classes, special events, con-sultation, research, generous contributions provided by our community and much more. It is with great appreciation that we provide a parent/carer guide to contributions below. Thank you for the long history of support you provide for high quality programs at Bronte PS.
The voluntary contribution has remained unchanged for over ten years.
In 2019 we used your contributions to enhance classroom delivery and opportunities in ways that reflect the community’s high expectations of learning. You funded a teacher for two days per week. I also acknowledge the ever present support of the P&C in upgrading student bathrooms.
In 2020, we will use your contributions to support classroom learning, including the provision of flexible and future focussed furniture and other resources agreed on by the P&C.
There is no better investment for your children’s future than to support their education. We understand that families have different capacities to contribute. We value whatever contributions parents/carers wish to make. The school is always willing to support fam-ilies experiencing financial challenges. All requests to me for support remain confi-dential. I can also reassure our community that no child is denied regular learning opportunities due to financial circumstances.
Please contact the office if you wish to set up a payment schedule
Your support is greatly appreciated,
Catherine Ryan
Principal
There continues to be great support for the provision of Spanish at Bronte PS. The on-going contribution of $160 (in 2019 $140) invoiced in Term 1 will ensure this quality lan-guage program continues. As in previous years, parents/carers will be informed of co-curricular activities, some excursions, and sport programs in which we ask parents to support in order to provide the richest curriculum possible at our school. The Spanish price increase in 2020 is due to the cost divided by a smaller student popu-lation.
Voluntary School Contribution 2020 $120 (per child)

Dear Parents, The Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC) begins next week. Bronte Public School has been taking part in the challenge since the very beginning, over 17 years ago. Students challenge themselves to read 20 books from the PRC list, of which there are 11 000 titles to choose from. We have a great number of these books in our school library, both in the physical collection and as part of our online collection. Please take the time to read the infor-mation sheet in this newsletter so that you can support your child in this challenge. Students in K-2 will complete the challenge with their class. Students in 3-6 complete the challenge independently with guidance from me and their classroom teacher. If you have any questions about the PRC please feel free to contact me at [email protected].
Thank you for your continued support.
