Greetings,

I want to start with a HUGE SHOUTOUT to all of the parents and students who came out last Saturday morning for a few hours to help move a tractor trailer load of mulch into a variety of areas near the bus lot. Thanks to PTSA and Pam Kiel, Beatification Chair, for coordinating this event. We have a couple of very busy weeks coming up with 5th grade feeder elementary schools coming to Bailey next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Our Student Tour Guides and Leadership Ambassadors are excited to give our future Broncos a glimpse of a day in middle school at Bailey. The following week, February 18-22, is Family Involvement week with Book Fair, Davidson Basketball Game, Snack donation drive for Ada Jenkins,

International Night, and our Black History Month Program. Please check out the section below for more details about all of these events. On Tuesday, February 12 our School Leadership Team (SLT) will meet with Hough's School Leadership Team to discuss some current issues surround the social and emotional health of our students. I will share some outcomes and other information with you in the coming weeks as we all try to help the next generation through their teenage years in a positive and productive manner. Dear Parents,

The flu season is here, and chances are, your family has been or will be affected. Please have a backup plan to implement to keep your child at home if he/she is sick. A sick child needs fluids and rest to recover. When students are simply medicated (Tylenol/Motrin) and sent to school, not only are they being put at risk, but other children are being exposed as well. If your child has a fever, please keep them home until he/she is fever-free for 24 hours WITHOUT having to use a fever-reducing medication to bring temperature down.

Please plan ahead for someone to be available to pick your child if he/she becomes sick during the day and you are unable to leave work. If your phone number changes, please update it in the front office. We are hoping for a safe and healthy second half of the school year!! Remember to wash your hands well and often with soap and water! If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me at (980)343-1068. I appreciate the opportunity to take care of your children. Thank you, Nurse Jennifer Bailey Middle School

Family Involvement Week Community Service Project

As part of Family Involvement Week, all Bailey Middle School students will be taking part in a snack service project for the Ada Jenkins Center's LEARN Works program. The LEARN Works program is a well-respected, positive and productive program for students with academic needs who attend Davidson Elementary, Cornelius Elementary and Bailey Middle Schools. The purpose of the LEARN Works program is to partner with families, schools, and volunteers to support the academic progress of students and to advance family engagement.

We need your help to make this service project a success! Please consider donating packages (individual snack bag size) of the following snacks: applesauce, fruit cups, pretzels, popcorn, Chex mix, trail mix, animal crackers, Goldfish crackers and apple juice boxes. Please click on this link to sign up to bring in items. Please bring your donations to the Bailey PTSA Room (located beside the office) by

Tuesday, February 19, 2019. Thank you for your support!
