On behalf of the National Executive Council and the Local Organizing Committee, I am very pleased to invite you all to the City of Abuja for the 22nd Annual General and Scientific Meeting of the Society of Family Physicians of Nigeria (SOFPON).

The venue of this year’s conference is the Nigerian Air Force Conference Centre and Suites in Abuja. It is the centerpiece of Jahi, one of the city’s newest districts; an area of storied buildings, modern architecture and broad well planned avenues. The conference centre is situated close to the city’s premier and pristine waterfront and West Africa’s largest man made water body, the Jabi Lake.

The Conference will be preceded by a must attend pre-conference at the National Trauma Centre, National Hospital Abuja on 21st November 2019. The conference feature interesting and impactful lectures, symposia and scientific sessions. The theme of this year’s conference: ‘Drug Abuse: The scourge on families and Nigeria as a Nation’

In addition to the Exhibition, Plenary sessions and Scientific Sessions, This Year’s AGSM will feature a special Certificated Workshop on diabeto-cardiology.

This will be the first time this novel workshop on a totally cutting edge field of Medicine is being held in West Africa.

An impressive range of seasoned specialist and international speakers will be leading sessions covering different areas of the family practice. SOFPON AGSM 2019 will be a great opportunity to see and hear the latest in technology, clinical applications and practice through our programme of expert reviews, Master Classes and Breakout Sessions.

Call for AbstractsAbstract submissions are invited from fellows and members of the Society of Family Physicians of Nigeria (SOFPON), and other health professionals in fields relevant to the theme.

All abstracts must be structured in the following format:

Introduction/background Objective(s) Materials and methods Results Conclusion

All abstracts for submission must be in English (British), typed using Times New Roman font size 12 in Microsoft Word format and should not be more than 350 words.

The scientific committee has the final decision on the mode of presentation (oral or poster) of accepted abstracts.

Images and tables should not be submitted with abstracts. Only standard acronyms and abbreviations are acceptable. Special or unusual acronyms and abbreviations should be placed in parentheses after the first appearance of the full term. Numerals should be used for numbers above nine.
