Highlights
7th Business Conference
7th -9th February, 2014
Our main events are as follows:
PERSPICACIA: Dissecting Business Cases through the art and science of differential diagnosis
Perspicacia is a Business Case Analysis competition, which tests the analytical and presentation skills of the
participants. Students apply their knowledge and skills to a challenging real-life business case. The competition
will be conducted in 2 rounds in which teams comprising of 3-5 members from universities all over Pakistan will
compete. It will be conducted in a typical LUMS MBA CASE STUDY CLASS style so as to give the students a flavor
of how case studies are solved and approached in LUMS MBA.
GAUNTLET: Strapping on thinking boots for a rough ride through a simulated terrain
Markstrat management simulation is conducted by Dr. Jamshed Khan. Markstrat is used by more than 500
academic institutions, including 8 of the top 10 international business schools and 25 of the top 30 in the US.
Teams of 4-6 members joust through rounds of periodic gratification and ultimately the number crunching and
puzzle solving geniuses of the competition are crowned. Players are required to make a number of decisions
related to Marketing, Finance and Research and Development in order to overcome competitive forces.
ENSPIRE: Manage the supply chain from end to end
Global Supply Chain Management Simulation is conducted by Dr. Arif Rana to test a number of key principles of
supply chain management. The game is played by teams of 2-3 members, often in heated competition, and
takes four hours to complete. A debriefing session of roughly 1 hour typically follows to review the results of each
team and discuss the lessons involved. In this Harvard simulation, teams are responsible for designing the
product, forecasting its demand, determining its production and keeping the shareholders happy.
WORKSHOP ON COMMUNICATION SKILLS
A WORKSHOP on Communication skills will be organized on the first day of the event. This ice breaking session
will help the participants interact with one another and prepare them for the upcoming case study competition
where they have to express their ideas eloquently in order to impress the judges.
