Welcome to MillviewWhen you’re looking for a care home, either for yourself or a loved one, it’s important thatyou feel confident with your decision. This means choosing somewhere that offers thehighest standards of care, comfort and support, with friendly and experienced staff whoreally get to know the resident and provide care that’s individual to them.

Situated in Barrhead, a residential area of Glasgow just four

miles from Paisley town centre, Millview is on a main bus route

and has shops within walking distance. The home has been

specifically designed to meet the needs of residents primarily

with elderly dementia care or daily nursing and residential care

needs. As you’d expect from Bupa, our standards of care are

second to none, and we employ highly trained registered

nurses and care assistants who provide 24-hour professional

support.

At Bupa, we appreciate that every resident is different, so each

person living with us has their own personal plan that’s unique

to them. This covers not only their care needs, but also their

personal preferences and tastes. We also ask residents and

their relatives to complete a ‘Map of Life’ so we can really get

to know each resident, and meet their emotional and social –

as well as physical – needs.

We also offer our staff plenty of specialist training, including

our award-winning ‘Personal Best’ customer service

programme. Bupa Care Services is one of the largest

organisations to have Investor in People status, reflecting this

commitment to training and development.

A warm, homely environment. Whether they’re staying with us long-term or just for a short

period, we want every resident to feel very much at home. We

welcome visitors at any time, and we take care to create

comfortable, homely surroundings. We believe in striking a

balance between providing care and support when it’s needed,

and helping the resident to maintain their independence – and

we encourage each resident to lead as full and active a life as

possible. Our warm, friendly atmosphere means that our

residents can continue their daily lives with privacy and

dignity, in a safe, caring environment.

Our homeA modern, purpose-built home, Millview has been carefully

designed to create a pleasant, well equipped home with help

and companionship on hand. Four spacious, well furnished

lounges and two dining areas provide a meeting place for

residents to relax and entertain guests. With a quiet room as

well as our activities taking place around the home, there is

always a place to socialise, watch television or simply spend

some quiet time. We know how important it is to keep in

touch with friends and family, so our door is always open

to guests.

Millview also has an easily accessible landscaped garden and

patio area, where residents can sit on sunny days, enjoy the

water feature in the sensory garden or take afternoon tea with

guests. Various activities and an annual fete are also held

outside.

Our single bedrooms are all en-suite and attractively decorated

to a high standard, with some having views over the gardens.

Each has a telephone and aerial point, thermostatic radiators,

smoke detectors and a 24-hour nurse call system. To make

their rooms feel as much like home as possible, we encourage

residents to bring in their own belongings, such as pictures

and ornaments.

Fresh and varied meals Meals are an important part of the day at Millview, and our

experienced chef creates a wide range of balanced, nutritious

dishes, prepared daily using only the freshest produce.

Residents can choose to eat in our dining rooms, or in their

bedrooms if they prefer. All our menus are nutritionally

checked, and our chef caters for all tastes and diets and we

will discuss our residents’ preferences and any special

requirements they may have.

We also serve biscuits with mid-morning tea or coffee, and

cake with tea and coffee in the afternoon and drinks in the

evening.

Stimulating daily activitiesEveryday activities are extremely important for encouraging

healthy bodies and minds. They help to bolster a resident’s

strength and energy, improve their appetite and humour, and

offer an opportunity for them to interact with staff and other

residents. As well as providing this physical and mental

stimulation, activities can also help give structure to a

resident’s day – and offer them something to look forward to.

This is why we like to look at daily tasks, such as flower

arranging or helping to tidy up, as activities rather than chores.

We also appreciate how important it is to offer variety. So our

activity co-ordinator ensures there’s always something

enjoyable and stimulating to do for residents of all abilities –

from reminiscence therapy to quizzes and art club - plus visits

from local entertainers and musicians.

We also have a mobile hairdresser who visits weekly. Activities

don’t just take place in the home as we organise visits to local

places of interest such as the local garden centre and Barrhead

shops and café.

Different types of careAt Millview we treat every resident as an individual. For this

reason we offer several types of stay depending on the level of

support required, from long-term care for those who need

daily nursing, to respite or nursing dementia care. We are also

registered to care for those with learning disabilities.

Bupa’s commitmentAt Bupa, we believe in the highest standards of care and

comfort, provided in a way that is individual to every resident.

We aim to achieve this by employing dedicated, well-trained

staff and providing comfortable and homely surroundings.

Bupa is a health and care company that does not have any

shareholders. As a result, it can reinvest all its profits into the

business and focus on its customers.
