INTRODUCING VICTORIA
CHAMBERS*
Strutton Ground, in the very heart of Westminster, offers a taste of quintessential London life within a wider neighbourhood of political and royal grandeur characterised by the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace. This mainly pedestrianised cobbled street hosts a vibrant weekday market and is home to the newly revitalised Victoria Chambers – previously office suites, now refurbished and returned to their original residential purpose. Close to St James’s Park tube station, Victoria and the myriad of taxis and buses that pass through Victoria Street just to the north, this is a development with unparalleled connections.

DISCOVER THE LESSER
KNOWN GEMS*
From the stuccoed splendour of the Belgravian embassies to the Gothic magnificence of the Abbey, imposing facades symbolise the public perception of the SW1 region. Yet behind the brick and stone edifices there are less trodden paths that lead to leafy squares, charming mews courtyards, pubs that have escaped the tourist eye and all manner of specialist stores and markets.
Strutton Ground is one of the most centrally located street markets in London. Intimate and cheerful, it houses an eclectic mix of stalls selling a wide variety of goods; from food and drink to jewellery and clothes. Or to satisfy the gourmet, head to Elizabeth and Eccleston Streets for boutique food shops and fabulous delicatessens.

WINING, DINING &
EXTENSIVE SHOPPING
*Revitalised by the arrival of the Cardinal Place shopping centre, the area has radically changed in recent years with exciting new restaurants, bars and boutiques adding to the long-established attractions such as the Albert, a distinguished Victorian pub that boasts many MPs amongst its regulars.
Cardinal Place has a range of fantastic high street shops and eateries ranging from Topshop, Zara, Molton Brown and L’Occitane to Wagamama and Brown’s Bar and Brasserie. Also on Victoria Street is a House of Fraser department store, or hop on the tube and head west two stops to Knightsbridge. There you can shop at Harrod’s or Harvey Nichols, or along Chelsea’s iconic King’s Road.
The quality and variety of restaurants is difficult to surpass: try “new style” Japanese at Nobu, eat Highland steaks with live jazz at Boisdale of Belgravia, taste award-winning Thai at the Mango Tree, have imaginative seafood at Quaglino’s or indulge in superlative modern-French cuisine by British chef William Drabble at his Michelin starred Seven Park Place.

PLACES TO GO*
SW1 boasts some exceptional open spaces in Green and St James’s Parks, however, the architecture of the built environment surely triumphs as some of the grandest to be found in the capital. Westminster Abbey is a living pageant of British history and a treasure trove of paintings and stained glass. A delightful companion piece is found down Victoria Street in the Westminster Cathedral, a breathtaking piece of Byzantine architecture. The Houses of Parliament claim prime riverfront position with the inimitable 320 ft tower, Big Ben, whose clock is charmingly counterweighted by old pennies to ensure it keeps to time.
Cardinal Place is home to the SW1 Gallery with a varied range of contemporary exhibitions that contrasts neatly with the opulent displays at The Queen’s Gallery at Buckingham Palace. Victoria Palace and the Apollo Victoria theatres can provide a light-hearted evening’s entertainment within easy walking distance.

YOUR FINGER ON THE PULSE
*From the established architectural magnificence of Belgravia, Knightsbridge and St James’s to the revitalised areas of Victoria, Pimlico and Westminster, the places that share the SW1 postcode trip off the tongue like a who’s who of hotspots. Business and pleasure co-exist very happily here; the politicians, diplomats, civil servants and royal dignitaries have been supplemented by the more recent arrival of tourists, journalists and media moguls. A diverse range of hotels, restaurants and bars rise to the challenge of meeting their discriminating tastes.

PLAYING WITH LIGHT
& PROPORTION *
Step inside and be amazed at the light that permeates through these revitalised spaces. Superb planning has maximised the living areas and ceilings have been enhanced to draw attention to their impressive heights. The feeling is contemporary chic, yet there remains a sense of tradition with some fine period detailing.

*The Westminster Collection encompasses a range of select refurbished and new build developments that share the distinguished SW1 postcode.
This historic region dates back to Edward the Confessor’s rule in the 11th century and his founding of a new palace church now known as Westminster Abbey. The church was named ‘west minster’ to distinguish it from the established St Paul’s Cathedral, the ‘east minster’ in the city. The move effectively changed the course of London’s history by dividing the commercial centre from the judicial seat of royal power.
Today, the word ‘Westminster’ is more often used to describe the capital’s political pulse, yet it is undoubtedly one of London’s most impressive residential addresses. It is also home to many of London’s most celebrated and globally recognised landmarks including the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and Westminster Abbey.
