all of the versions specified above (except size 000) are also available with mounted fusemonitoring; Order No. supplement: 3NP4.F.01

From size NH00 onwards, all of the 3NP4 versions arealso available with fuse monitoring. This is realizedusing 3RV SIRIUS circuit-breakers which are mountedat the front in the center of the fuse carrier.

The disconnector can then be fed as required fromeither the top or the bottom, whereby voltages up to690 V AC/220 V DC are possible. Furthermore, thistype of fuse monitoring is completely insensitive toEMC disturbances and harmonics. These disturbances

can frequently occur, e. g. in line supplies with ACdrive converters and inverters.

The circuit-breaker is connected in parallel to thethree main disconnector phases, and is tripped assoon as at least one of three fuses blows. The voltageis tapped at the handle lugs of the fuses which meansthat only fuses with live grip lugs can be used.

1NO/1NC signal outputs are used as standard. For size 00, they are brought out to a connector socket at the front, and for sizes 1 to 3, as double AMP flatconnector at the shock protection in the lower sectionof the disconnector.

Either pre-assembled 1- or 3-m cables with strainrelief can be used as connecting cable for size 00.These can then be easily inserted at the fuse monitor-ing using the mounted connectors. There are alsoconnector mounting sets for crimping (short-circuitproof) cables.

Flat connectors are always used for sizes 13.

The function of the 3RV can be tested at any timeusing the test button provided.

All-around safetyWith the cable lug covers correctlymounted, the enclosed disconnectors offer a high IP30 degree of protection, even after a voltage testusing the 6 test holes in the withdrawable fuse carri-er. The versions with SIGUT terminals are completelysafe from finger touch without any additional covers.

The large clear inspection window allows the typeand the operating statuses of the fuse links to bequickly and reliably identified. Overreach and reach-around touch protection is already integrated into the withdrawable fuse carrier up to 160 A; from Size 1 shock protection is available as accessory.

At home on all busbars All 3NP4 sizes are available for 40 mm or 60 mmbusbar center clearance. Busbars can either be 5 or10 mm wide. For 10 mm busbars, for sizes 000 and00, two lugs must be broken off at the three rearbusbar clamps. Busbar compensation is available as accessory for mounting sizes 1 and 2 onto 5 mmbusbars (size 3 disconnectors cannot only besnapped onto 5 mm busbars).

By simply snapping onto the busbars from the top,the disconnectors can also be mounted onto T ordouble T profiles as well as onto Power-Line systemsfrom the Rittal company, without the horizontal partsof the busbars preventing this.

Intelligent latching mechanismThis automatically adapts itself to busbar widthsbetween 5 and 30 mm, and it reliably latches into

place. This eliminates numerous versions andcomplicated adjustments before mounting. There is a small red button inside the switch, which, especially from size 1, ensures that the disconnec-tor is really mounted onto the busbar to its endstop.

This button prevents the shock protection from being inserted as long as the latching mechanismhasnt correctly latched into place.

Quickly mounted All of these features reduce valuable mounting and installation time. It also means that the correcttightening torque of the screws doesnt have to bechecked and adjusted. The mounting rail latchingmechanisms, integrated into the basic size 000 and00 devices, also provide a clear financial benefit, especially, where up to 160 A disconnectors are usedin larger unit quantities: additional screws, hooks, intermediate plates or a second mounting rail are not required.

Smart accessories for every applicationThe auxiliary contacts, which fit all sizes, can besubsequently retrofitted without taking up any extra space.

The three-way terminal makes it easy to connect up to 3 cables (e. g. for capacitor protection). Several disconnectors can be fed in parallel using the 3-phase busbars, connecting buses and feederterminals up to 225 A. Numerous masking framesand mounting sets for SIKUS distribution boards orthe 8HP distribution system guarantee simple engi-neering and fast mounting and installation.

3NP Fuse Switch Disconnector the Optimum Handle on Every Application

  • Fuses for overload and short-circuit protection means: high short-circuit currents

can also be safely handled, favorably-priced backup protection, simple selectiv-

ity calculations and absolute reliability, even when short-circuits occur. The fuse

melts completely so that there is no residual risk as a result of contacts which

may have welded together. When the disconnector is in the open position,

there is a visible isolating gap, which is often demanded, e. g. for maintenance

purposes. And the optional mounted fuse monitoring offers additional security

fuse switch disconnectors 3NP for the highest plant availability and safety.

2 series in the range the optimum handle onevery applicationThe 3NP4 series (sizes NH000 to NH3) offer theoptimum solution for most applications. These rangefrom power distribution in residential and commer-cial buildings, through flexible distribution stationsup to power distribution systems in large industrialplants. They are also admirably suited as main andincoming feeder breakers in industry, for control systems, as well as in motor feeders or as backupprotection for circuit-breakers. They have an integratedlug for sealing which is integrated as standard. This means that they can be used, without anyrestrictions, in meter cabinets and incoming mainfeeder boxes for buildings.

The rugged 3NP5 series (sizes NH00 to NH3)provide reliable protection for all of the tougherapplications. This is especially true in mining, in thesteel industry, and also in the chemical industry, where sulphur-laden, or aggressive ambient condi-tions or hazardous locations make it almost impossi-

ble to use other disconnectors available on the mar-ket. But the fast closing and arc deflection chambersof the 3NP5 come through with flying colors. 3NP5provides the highest degree of safety for operatingpersonnel and the plant, as main switch with highswitching frequency and good AC-23 characteristics,e.g. for motor loads.

Both of these ranges are climate-proof and corre-spond to IEC 60 947-3 and VDE 0660, Part 107.The fuses can be clearly identified through the largeclear inspection window.Matching masking frames and complete, TSK-testedmounting sets are available both for the molded-plastic 8HP distribution system as well as for thevarious SIKUS distribution boards.

The values for switching capacitors (e.g. for reactivepower compensation) were also tested (refer toCatalog NSK, Section 12), and when used with SITORsemiconductor or 3NE1 double-protection fuses, 3NP disconnectors can be used to protect soft starters,AC drive converters and similar devices (tables withtested device-fuse combinations are provided in theNSK). Shock and vibration testing as well as specialearthquake tests guarantee that the 3NP can be usedin marine applications, nuclear power stations andsimilar safety-critical plants.

Fuses for your safety 3NP4 and 3NP5 switch disconnectors

The 3NP5 disconnector series (sizes NH00 to NH3)for fixed installation can be quickly hung onto pre-installed mounting bolts. They can also be mountedon the front of switchgear panels using the match-ing mounting sets or they can be mounted onto 60 mm busbar systems using 8US1 adapters.

The especially rugged design of this series (plasticwith a high resistance to heat, metal parts which canbe mechanically stressed), permits an unusually

high switching frequency for devices such as these. The erosion electrodes additionally extend the life-time of the main contacts. The lateral spring mecha-nism (= fast switching) eliminates any danger as a result of incorrect operation, e.g. briefly actuatingthe disconnector or switching which is too slow.

Furthermore, 3NP5 have an extremely high AC-23switching capacity. The switching gases which areformed are deflected into the disconnector using asophisticated arc chamber design, instead of beingdischarged upwards and to the side. This means that operating personnel and plant sections andcomponents in the vicinity are reliably protected.

Fuse monitoring:To allow monitoring of the fuses in the disconnectors,a permanently wired 3RV1 circuit-breaker is mountedon the fuse carrier.

When the switch disconnector is in the ON position, the circuit-braker poles are connected in parallelwith the fuses to be monitored. When the switch isin the OFF position, the poles of the circuit-breakerare dead.

The internal resistance of the circuit-breaker is sohigh that it does not affect the protection given bythe monitored fuses.

Electronic fuse monitoring (EFM):The electronic fuse monitoring system is also mounted on the fuse carrier of the 3NP5. It workswhether or not a load is present. Fuse blowing canbe signalled to a switch control room by means of agroup indication (2NO contacts + 1NC contact).

ble to use other disconnectors available on the mar-ket.
