Dear Parents,

The holiday season is upon us and it is time to celebrate in many different ways. As we quickly move through Decem-ber, it is hard to believe that 2020 is right around the cor-ner. We have many activities planned at school to make December special for the stu-dents. In addition, we contin-ue to remain focused on our academic goals and we need your continued support. Please check your child’s back-pack each day for important information regarding your child’s schoolwork. You should expect regular home-work assignments and fre-quent communication from your child’s teacher and from the school. Together we can help your child discover the true joy of learning.

Mark your calendar for Parent-Teacher Conferences January 13th thru the 17th. Confer-ences are an excellent oppor-tunity for you to visit with your child’s teacher about your stu-dent’s academic progress and achievement at school. More information will be sent out as the time draws near.

Mesa Public Schools has many on-line resources to help par-ents stay in touch with your child’s school via the internet. Here are just a few sites that are available to you:

http://mymps.mpsaz.org This Parent Portal provides you school related information about your child, such as attendance records for ele-mentary age students and pro-gress reports and/or grades for secondary students.

http://www.mpsaz.org/brinton/pto This site contains information about Brinton’s Parent Teacher Organization. A calendar of events, monthly meetings and activities are listed for your review. You can learn about the wonderful projects that they sponsor every year. The PTO board welcomes your involvement!

https://www.myschoolbucks.com This site allows you to check

the balance on your student’s lunch money account. You can also pay on-line instead of having your child carry money to school.

Just a reminder that ALL VOLUNTEERS (except for parents and legal guardians) MUST be finger-

printed and processed through the District office. (Yes, even grandparents)

Student of the Month for October 2019

Kindergarten Registration

Registration for the 2020-2021 school year will start the week of January 27th, 2020. Children that turn 5 years of age by August 31st, 2020 will be able to attend Kin-dergarten at Brinton. We will need you to provide a cer-tified copy of your child’s birth certificate, current im-munization records and a proof of residence (utility bill, rental agreement, etc.) before your child can be as-signed to a classroom. These items can be uploaded when you enroll online at www.mpsaz.org/enroll.

We are going to have an evening “Kindergarten Round-up” on Tuesday, January 28th, from 4-6 pm. This will give parents the opportunity to visit a Kindergarten classroom and meet our Kindergarten teachers. They will provide an overview of the Kindergarten Curriculum and answer any questions that you might have.

Birthday Reminder…

Just a little reminder that students

cannot receive balloon bouquets in

class or take them on the bus. All

birthday treats should be store

bought. We have several students

with severe food allergies, so we have

to be able to see what is in the prod-

ucts before they receive them. Please

be sure that you bring enough for

each student in the classroom.

Brinton Family Lunch Picnic — November 6

Fun for family and friends as Brinton held its annual Family Lunch Picnic out on the field. Pic-nic blankets lined the playground as families came together to have an enjoyable day with their children outside during our wonderful fall weather. Keepin’ Cool Ice Cream truck was availa-ble selling delicious treats to students, parents and staff.

Alysha G. wins Brinton’s

Spelling Bee

November 25, 2019 - 5th grader, Alysha G.,

from Mrs. Moore’s classroom, was top speller

at Brinton’s annual Spelling Bee. It was an

exciting competition that narrowed down to 3

competitors that included two brothers, Jo-

seph P. and Joshua P. along with Alysha. In the 25th round, Alysha

became the winner by spelling the

word “tabasco” correctly and Josh-

ua P. came in 2nd place. Alysha

will represent Brinton in the Dis-

trict Spelling Bee.
