CSAS HEEFT VEEL SLECHTERE PROGNOSE DAN CSAS/OSAS
Patiënten met hartfalen en centrale slaapapneu (CSAS) hebben een veel hoger risico op
spoedopnames en overlijden dan patiënten die zowel CSAS als obstructieve slaapapneu (OSAS)
hebben. In de eerste drie maanden follow up van de French Cohort Study of Chronic Heart Failure
Patients With Central Sleep Apnoea Eligible for Adaptive Servo-Ventilation (FACE)-studie bleek de kans
op dit gecombineerde eindpunt voor patiënten met alleen CSAS driemaal zo hoog. Het maakt daarbij
niet uit of patiënten Adaptive Servo Ventilation (AVS) krijgen of niet. Lees meer»
DOXYCYCLINE VOORKOMT GEEN EXACERBATIES BIJ COPD
Toevoegen van doxycycline aan de behandeling van een acute exacerbatie van COPD heeft geen
invloed op de tijd tot een volgende exacerbatie. Dat is de teleurstellende uitkomst van de Nederlandse
TEXACOLD trial, waarin een tiendaagse kuur met corticosteroïden werd aangevuld met een kuur
doxycycline van zeven dagen. De resultaten werden afgelopen zondag op de ATS gepresenteerd door

LIRAGLUTIDE VERBETERT CARDIOVASCULAIRE UITKOMSTEN EN VERLAAGT MORTALITEIT IN TYPE 2 DIABETES PATIËNTEN - DE LEADER TRIAL
Anti-hyperglykemische behandeling met liraglutide in hoog-risico patiënten met type 2 diabetes
vermindert het risico op ernstige cardiovasculaire (CV) uitkomsten en overlijden. Dit zijn de belangrijkste
resultaten van het LEADER onderzoek dat gepresenteerd werd op de ADA Scientific Sessions 2016 en
gelijktijdig werd gepubliceerd in de New England Journal of Medicine. Met LEADER is liraglutide de
eerste GLP-1 receptor agonist die een gunstig effect op CV uitkomsten toont. Lees meer»

Negen maanden geleden werden de revolutionaire cardiovasculaire voordelen van empagliflozine in de

tijdens het jaarlijkse congres van de European Association of the Study of Diabetes (EASD) in

EERSTE EUROPESE STANDAARDEN HARTINFARCTMANAGEMENT GEPRESENTEERD
Op het ESC-congres in Rome zijn deze week de eerste Europese standaarden voor het management
voor patiënten met hartinfarct gepresenteerd door the European Society of Cardiology-Acute Cardiac
Care Association (ESC-ACCA). Deze zogeheten kwaliteitsindicatoren (QIs) voor de zorg bij een acuut

Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) oftewel percutane aortaklep vervanging/implantatie wordt
momenteel nog uitgevoerd als een aortaklep implantatie bij patiënten niet chirurgisch kan plaatsvinden.
Maar volgens Alain Cribier van de Universiteit van Rouen zal dit in de nabije toekomst snel veranderen.
‘Ik denk dat het omdraait. In de toekomst zal het alleen nog chirurgisch gebeuren als de patient geen
