New applications for project leaders who have been approved PRGS grants in the earlier phase will be considered if the completion stage of the project has reached 75% in the MyGrants system monitoring module and certified by the RMC.
All applications must be presented to the evaluation committee.
For research projects involving human subjects, the project must obtain the approval of the Ethics Committee. (1st progress report).
Academic staff who are studying and sabbatical leave (within and outside the country for a period of 6 months) are not allowed to apply for a new application. However, he can become a research member.
Applicants must update and complete all details (Personal Information, Projects, Publications, IPs, Supervision, Teaching, Consultation and Community Service) in MyGRANTS and it must be verified by the RMC. - In addition, in the referenced FRGS grant, the applicant is only a team member not the PI. The proposed PRGS PI should be the PI in the referenced FRGS grant, otherwise a written consent need to be obtained from the referenced FRGS PI.
- The leader is not ready for PRGS research.
- Too many members. What are their roles?
- There are too many co-researchers, there are bound to be passengers.
- PL must be expert in domain
- The methodology is very sketchy. More details are expected in the methodology write-up
- Milestones not properly worded. It should be written in one short complete sentence and begins with the word ‘Complete’
- Objectives of study are not clear - In PRGS, the theory part should have been settled. - the prototype development is unclear - Problem statement should be supported by
citations. - The proposal is not properly written. - Applicant clearly didn't prepare a complete write-up
leaving blanks in several parts of the document - Avoid any fundamental work in methodology and
objective – no LR and data collection - Purely development – avoid research phase
- Not a continuation from a previous project. - The detail of previous completed grant has not
provided. - It is suspected that there was no research done prior
to the current PRGS proposal. Thus, still a lot of research element to be elucidated and a lot of uncertainties to be explored.
- Applicant need to give strong justification on how the previous findings related to the current PRGS proposal
- Not clear how your previous research provide the fundamental knowledge to support this proposal
- Proposal is based on completed PRGS. Hence, PI should apply for another pre-commercial grants not PRGS.
- The prototype must be developed based on basic/fundamental study
- No fundamental studies were carried out and previous project is not directly related to this project
- Not recommended due to lack of fundamental study on proposed prototype and preliminary effectiveness of the prototype.
- - All relevant studies should be completed. - Continuation from FRGS - Bonus
Why Rejected??

- New panel - Experienced panel
- the presentation does not indicate commercial value due to confusion on the concept of …
- not convincing presentation - Team work is important during the
presentation - Business model is important
- WOW factors – can go further – interesting
- Trendy and focus - Development.. Prototype.. OK - Framework .. NOT OK
- Attending training (local and international for both travelling and fee) as well as travelling to meet industries should not be approved since the applicant be ready to build the prototype unless a lot more uncertainties yet to be resolve or the applicant still need more skills to develop the prototype which means that he is not ready yet to build the prototype.
- Don’t request more than what you need
- Interesting project but unsure of whether it can attract buyers. PI supposedly give clear and strong information on how this project can create wealth and give positive impacts to nation and society
- the product is already available - Product has no commercial value - There is no clear comparison between the proposed product and
existing products in the market - Output – need to highlight toward commercialization - highlight
business model – RoI– how u plan to sell your product
Follow guideline on capping and specify
details of each items in budget
Allocate all items in the respective vot
Do NOT copy and resubmit the previous proposal without any changes
Amend as requested by panel Only listed items in
proposal are allowed to be purchased/claim
Attach flow chart in details Tab
Please update personal details in
MyGrants (PL & research members)
Equipment need to be maintain and repair as allocate in Vot 28000 must be listed in Equipment & Material Tab
