We have been busy working with communities from across Lancashire including Preston, Lancaster, Blackburn and West Lancashire who have been collaborating with our artists Imitating the Dog to create a new large scale projection piece, Trespass!, accompanied by a community choir. We’ve also worked with people from Preston, Burnley and Blackpool as well as Handmade Parade artists to hone their making skills to create a mini illuminated parade, Luminous Landscapes.

The #LancsEncounter festival is building

momentum towards its big return in 2018. In the

meantime, the evening of 23 September offers an

exciting mix of events and activities in the heart of

Preston.

Don’t forget Lancashire Encounter will return over the weekend of 21-23 September 2018.

The Harris will play host to a wide range of free creative workshops from henna to sign making, swing dance to choirs, photography to music to keep you occupied into the evening.

We have partnered up with Light Up Lancaster Festival, taking place in Lancaster over the weekend of 4 and 5 November where Trespass! will been performed again with an added twist. If you like Lancashire Encounter you are sure to love Light Up Lancaster! www.lightuplancaster.co.uk

There will be an exciting mini Procession of Light weaving its way through Preston city centre on the evening of 23 September 2017.

The procession will be led by the spectacular Handmade Parade’s Northern Giant with an array of bands. Look out for the Totem animal costumes, lantern heads, living landscapes, colourful landscape bodies and colourful suitcase lanterns which are all pieces of the art created by local communities.

During August and September Procession Producers Handmade Parade artists have been working with communities from Preston (Gateway), Blackpool (Mereside MAFIA) and Burnley (Burnley Youth Theatre) to create the landscape related art pieces for the procession. One group has even been taught to stilt walk!

This mini procession will start at Winckley Square at 8pm. It will then continue along Cross Street before turning into Cannon Street, then it’s a right turn along Fishergate and a left into Cheapside to do a loop round the Fish Market before ending on the historic Flag Market.

Trespassby Imitating the Dogwith James Hamilton

PRESTON TOWN HALL Trespass is a new outdoor video mapping and sound piece by Imitating the Dog with composer James Hamilton. The piece will light up two buildings across three dates in Preston and Lancaster, bringing to life the grey walls of some familiar city buildings with the story of a child who goes looking for more. The projection will also integrate performances by a community choir.

Part video game, part Where the Wild Things Are, Trespass promises to bring some adventure to the dark nights!
