Bridge:

A bridge is a structure built to span physical obstacles such as a water body, valley, or road, for the purpose of providing passage over the obstacles.

Site selection:

Site should be geologically sound. At site , the river flow should be without

whirls and cross-current. At the site , there should be suitable high

banks above high flood level on each sides.

These should be no sharp curves in the approaches.

Avoidance of excessive under water construction work.

Cantilever Bridge

Cantilever bridges are built using cantilevers—horizontal beams supported on only one end. Most cantilever bridges use a pair of continuous span that extend from opposite sides of the supporting piers to meet at the center of the obstacle the bridge crosses.
