Morris Forensic
Brian Morris is the principal of Morris Forensic, a specialist firm providing expert
accounting and valuation services in connection with litigation and dispute resolution.
Morris Forensic operates in consultation with specialist forensic accounting personnel
of Edwards Marshall.
History
Brian commenced employment with Edwards Marshall in 1971 and was admitted to
partnership in 1983.
Brian worked primarily on audit and business services engagements from 1971 to 1983 and was the partner
responsible for the firm’s audit practice from 1983 to 1991. Since 1991 he has worked mainly in the forensic
accounting practice; however, he continues to be consulted on technical issues in audit engagements and
provides management consulting services to one of the firm’s major clients.
Brian was Managing Partner and Chairman of Partners at various times.
He was also responsible for the firm’s relationship with its previous international affiliation, Polaris
International. Brian has served as Vice President, Secretary and a Director of the international board and has
been the Chairman of the Asia/Pacific Region of that body. Brian also co-ordinated Practice Inspections for the
affiliation in the Asia/Pacific region.
In November 2014 Brian established his specialist firm, Morris Forensic. He continues to be retained as a
consultant to Edwards Marshall.

Professional Experience
Brian has worked in most areas of public accounting. He has worked as a general practitioner involved in the
provision of taxation, accounting, audit and business services.
Accounting and consulting assignments included corporate strategy, management reporting, risk management,
investment analyses, acquisitions and divestments, computer system analysis and design, succession planning
and general accounting advice.
Brian has served on and been retained by the governing bodies of a number of corporations, both private and
State owned.
Financial Investigations and Valuations
Brian has been involved in a considerable number of projects involving investigations and valuations.
Financial investigations have been undertaken mainly for the purposes of litigation and the provision of expert
evidence. These have entailed analyses of specific transactions connected with allegations of breach of
fiduciary and other duties, fraudulent activities, corporate failure and solvency.
Valuations have been undertaken for the purposes of acquisition and divestment transactions as well as for
forensic purposes connected with commercial litigation and property settlements.
Brian has delivered a number of papers on topics dealing with accounting standards, auditing, business
investigations, data processing systems, valuations and forensic accounting.
Forensic Accounting and Expert Evidence
Brian has provided expert accounting evidence in The Federal Court of Australia, The Family Court of Australia,
the Supreme Courts of South Australia, New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria and the District Courts of
South Australia and Western Australia.
Brian has been retained in connection with a considerable number of matters involving litigation. This has
ranged from the investigation of financial records and transactions, valuation of businesses and business
entities, assessments of loss and damage, audit and accounting negligence and fraud.

Audit
Brian has worked in, or in connection with, audit throughout most of his career. He was the partner responsible
for Edward Marshall’s audit practice from 1983 until 1990. Audit clients have been involved in a broad range of
activities including financial services, health insurance, pharmaceuticals, property development,
manufacturing, construction, education and retail.
Brian has also been retained by South Australian Government Authorities as the Probity Auditor in connection
with significant projects for the development of infrastructure and the outsourcing of services.
Brian continues as a consultant with Edwards Marshall on technical audit issues.
