Dr. Brian Ward is a Professor of Medicine and Microbiology at McGill University. During his 30 year career at McGill, he served at various times as the chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases, Deputy Director (Fundamental Science) the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre, Director of the McGill Vaccine Study Center and Associate Director of the JD MacLean Centre for Tropical Diseases. Dr. Ward has served or continues to serve on a number of national and international advisory committees in the areas of vaccine use, vaccine safety and international health. He has active research interests in RNA viruses, vaccine development and international health supported by Canadian and international funding agencies, as well as private foundations and industry. As a student at McGill University, Dr. Ward received numerous scholarships and awards including a Rhodes Scholarship (Québec - Corpus Christi 1977). Dr. Ward completed his medical training at McGill University in 1980, a rotating internship at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in 1981 followed by residency/fellowship training in internal medicine and infectious diseases at Johns Hopkins from 1985 to 1990, Tropical Medicine at the University of London in 1984 and microbiology at McGill in 1990-1991. Dr. Brian Ward is a Professor of Medicine and Microbiology at McGill University. During his 30 year career at McGill, he served at various times as the chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases, Deputy Director (Fundamental Science) the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre, Director of the McGill Vaccine Study Center and Associate Director of the JD MacLean Centre for Tropical Diseases.
