Breton was first established in

1963 by Marcello Toncelli, who

perceived the enormous potential

in developing a market which was

absolutely innovative and at the

time practically unexplored:

developing new technologies and

manufacturing industrial plants for

producing composite stone.

Since the beginning of its activity

Breton has also dedicated itself to

manufacturing machines and

plants for processing natural

stone. The founder’s farsighted

entrepreneurship and his

enormous aptitude for developing

innovating ideas were the assets

that enabled the company to

rapidly grow becoming in a just few

years an industrial reality in the

foreground, and later to become

the world market leader.

Around the mid 90’s the company

decided to move into the market of

the fabrication of numerical control

machining centres for application

in the mechanical industry, and in

a very short period of time Breton

became one of the important

manufacturers in this industry at a

world level.

Today Breton S.p.A. is under the

control of Luca and Dario Toncelli,

who run the company with the

collaboration of the founder's long-

time partner, Roberto Chiavacci,

who holds the office of Vice

President of the Board of Directors.

The company occupies a land area

of approx. 80.000 sq.mt., of which

38.000 are covered.

(Engineered Stone®), Breton

stands alone worldwide in its

technological know-how and

leadership position.

The technologies applied to Breton

plants, protected by numerous

international patents, are the result

of years of research and

development. Our engineered stone

plants produce high-quality,

technologically advanced and

decorative products for the building

and furnishing industry, which are

widespread, well known and

appreciated worldwide. Every year,

in various production sites

throughout the world, the plants

installed by Breton produce millions

of square meters of engineered

stone.

The History

We believe in history as it makes us

confident in the future and in the new

ideas to come as they will help us

maintain our position as market

leader. We have a time-honoured

tradition that has lasted for over 40

years and we would like to conclude

this overview by underlining the most

important events which have

characterized the life of Breton in all

these years of success.

Thanks to the consistent impulse the

company gave the local economy, the

late founder Marcello Toncelli was

conferred the title Honorary Citizen of

the Town of Castello di Godego, which

is in fact the location where the

company is based. He was then later

conferred the honour “Cavaliere del

Lavoro” (Knight of the Order of Labour

Merit of the Italian Republic) by the

President of the Italian Republic. He

was also nominated Honorary

member of the International Eurasian

Academy of Sciences of Moscow and

Academician of the International

Academy of Sciences of St.

Petersburg and finally he was also

conferred the title Honorary Citizen of

the City of Le Sueur, Minnesota (USA).

The first plants for manufacturing cement-bonded tiles using the "Bretonterastone"

compaction by vibration under vacuumtechnology are installed

Matrix is developed: the first Breton machiningcentre with 5 interpolated axes for mould high-

speed finishing

The new Research and

Development Centre is inaugurated.

2003Breton Quality System Certification improves,

2000The new closed-cycle moulding technology of
