150-200 embryo transfers a year. The clinic maintains an onsite re-cipient mare herd. Embryo trans-fer has been performed on older infertile mares, young perfor-mance horses, mares with chronic uterine disease, and severely de-bilitated mares. Among the clients is a talented polo pony who has never given birth yet has 58 prog-eny. She was cloned in 2007-- the clones act as donor mares whose embryos were placed in recipient mares – and these may have been the first clones to produce foals by embryo transfer.
Although primarily a repro-duction specialty practice, Nandi Veterinary Associates also offers general veterinary services in-cluding general health care, emer-gency care (within their practice area) and ambulatory services. The practice, which consists of three farms totaling 275 acres, also offers sales preparation, and has an under roof equicizer for sales prep, rehabilitation or fitness. The Nandi Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory maintains a lab for EIA (Coggins) testing, quantitative fecal egg counts (for use in targeted deworming programs), IgG testing for foals, measurement of colostral IgG and routine blood work.
In 2013, the clinic will stand the Standardbred stallions
