WE ARE MORE THAN

READY FOR EURO

Reporters of Fan Tribune: Dominika, Adam and Ewa talked to the Mayor of Ludwin District – Mr Andrzej Chabros about preparations for EURO 2012 D.A.E. :Good morning.

Mr Chabros: Good morning.

D.A.E.: We’d like to talk a little about football.

We know, tat you play football yourself.

Mr Chabros: Yes, that’s true. I play in a team called VIPs. The team

consists of manly “very mature” players. The average age

of the team members is over 40. We play in a local league

and it happens that grandfathers play against grandsons

because in Ludwin District there are teams of players aged

from 8 to 60. There is also a team of girls who do really well.

D.A.E.: Are you planning any special events for EURO 2012 in Ludwin District?

Mr Chabros: Ludwin district is a place where many football fans live but not

many of them were able to buy tickets for the matches. So we are

planning to organise outdoor common matches watching at our Cultural

Center. We are going to have a barbecue there and make it a football

celebration. At the weekends we are planning to have special matches.

We are going to make a drawing and different football teams will be

different teams of EURO: Germany, Russia, Poland etc. We invite also

tourists to the tournament. We will have our own champion, and we

hope both in our tournament and in real life it’ll be Poland.

D.A.E.: We hope so, too. And can Ludwin District offer anything for tourists

who are not so interested in football?

Mr Chabros: Ludwin district is a place that offers a lot not only to football fans.

We are located in an ecologically clean area with lots of lakes, forests

and attractions both for sport fans, nature lovers or artists. We have got

several beautiful historic buildings: an orthodox church, the old granary.

Bird lovers will find unique species to observe in Ludwin District. We are

also a great place for people who like good food.

We have local products that have been

announced local specialities with

certificates: the famous local bread and

sausages. I can safely say that everybody

will find something interesting in Ludwin.

And our district is one of the best places

to spend EURO- to feel the excitement of

the matches and to relax in the breaks

between them.

People say I’m A Freak…

A tr ue s t o r y o f a K A M I K A Z E f o o t b a l l f a n .

My friends call me ‘freak’ because if I want something

very much I will do everything using any possible mean

to achieve the goal. As the football championship EURO

2012 is coming soon I decided to get the ticket for a

match in Poland. Unfortunately, I had no luck in the

official drawing – I didn’t get any ticket. However, it

didn’t discourage me; I decided to get it using other

ways. I bought hundreds of soda bottles and sweets

hoping to win the ticket in promotions. However, it also

didn’t work. I tried another possibility – playing a

computer game in which the first prize is a ticket for

EURO. I played it for hours and was one of the best

players, but it turned out that someone else got the first

place! It was a disaster! I ended up with no money, no

ideas, 10 sleepless nights playing a game and

10 additional pounds put on weight. The last thing I can

do is to go to every match, stand in front of the entrance

and hope for the miracle. Because Ludwin, the place

where I live, is situated quite close to every host city, I

am going to stand by the stadium before every match

looking like a complete freak with a banner in my hand

saying: ‘I know I won’t get there but that’s all I can do’,

hoping somebody will have mercy and will let me in…

MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING i.e. :How to survive EURO when you are a girl

Scientists from Ludwin have developed several

methods for girls to help them survive EURO without

mental harm.

1. You won’t do without earplugs.

2. You are fed up with cheering? –Go to RONDO pizzeria –

it’s a great place to get some rest and to have a pizza.

3. You are shocked by the behaviour of Rother football

fans- go to the nearby lakes- you can cool down there.

4. Your boyfriend couldn’t buy a ticket for any of EURO

matches and he keeps moaning? Take him for a mach at our

pitch- he won’t moan while playing ashamed of his friends.

5. You feel lonely while all the male members of your

family watch the matches on TV? - Go to the collective

football watching to see that you are not alone- more girls

feel the same.

6. You don’t like football? Give yourself a chance to like it-

this is the main reason of EURO.

I'm not a football fan and I’m not even

interested in it. The thing I’m keen on

the most is history. I'm not going to

watch Euro 2012 matches but I’m

coming in June to Ludwin District to

discover history of this region and to

see a few monuments of architecture.

I'm going to see the orthodox church in

Dratow. The residence and granary

from end of 19th century in Ludwin

and many more monuments. Exploring

Ludwin District from historic side is my

way of celebrating EURO.

NOT FOOTBALL FAN -SO WHAT?

We have asked several student from the local secondary school who are not a sporty type, how they are going to spend the time of

EURO.

Hi, I'm Ania. I'm 15 years old. I love biology and I also want to celebrate Euro 2012. In Ludwin community I can do it my way. In Ludwin there're many lakes, forests and we have here fresh air. I can walk there and observe some animals like harres, other birds and deers. Everything is amazing and beautiful here and I think that Ludwin community is the best place for biologists to celebrate Euro 2012. While watching matches on TV I can eat regional delights, like traditional Ludwin bread, hand made butter and cottage cheese. They're so fantastic and delicious.

Hi, I'm Dominika. I'm 14 years old. I love art and music. Ludwin district gives me a chance to walk and admire the beautiful views. I think that the best is the sunset over the lake. There' re many amazing places here, but I think- the best is the Orthodox Church in Dratów. I can see beautiful icons there and I can calm down there. It's so fantastic. And if I want I can go and watch matches with other people in our local community center to socialise a little bit.
